Essay on my Hobby : My Hobby is Gardening

I belong to a farmer’s family. After settling down in the metro cities, I have noticed my family craving to spare their time for Mother Nature. Having a family background with an ample number of agricultural jobholders, I decided to devise a small garden of my own. Earlier in my penthouse, I decided to create a small rooftop garden due to lack of space. This is how gardening helped me release the amplitude amount of endorphins in my whole family after a stressful day. Gardening is the most accessible and manageable task for a human being. All it requires is enough motivation for a better yield. It is a decampment towards the serenity and beauty of nature with loads of unadulterated indulgence. Gardening has always helped me look towards a better future. It has maintained me to stay submerged with my fondness for plants and blossoms. It is a  form of recreational activity after my school hours. Springing from botanical gardens to every miniature backyard, I have visited all of them. Attending several gardens motivates me to produce a surplus of plants in my garden.

What do I do for my hobby gardening?

Gardening can be done on several types of soil and with numerous varieties of yield. Gardening can be of many types such as herb, flowers, vegetables or kitchen, rose, rock, water, and indoor gardening. According to the needs and availability of tools and garden supplies suited for the purpose, we choose the respective criteria.

Soil is the most important trait for gardening. It requires the accurate level of manure and water to flourish and drop off blooming yield. Soil is a requirement because it constitutes a certain amount of organisms that help in the conversion of plant nutrients from the putrefied subject. To harvest a beautiful garden, healthy soil is the most important necessity. In my rooftop gardens, I have utilized an inadequate amount of space to grow flowering plants and a few creepers and climbers for my mother’s kitchen. Gardening requires an ample amount of attention and time. Starting from the preparation of the soil to the composting till the blossoms are achieved, everything requires dedication. In the beginning, I started with a proper layout for an inadequate stretch. Then I had to pick among the favored and accessible varieties to start with. Obtaining good seeded plants and accessible supplies available at my home, I started my gardening tenure. To help my mom’s kitchen I even planted a few vegetable seeds such as bitter gourd, lemon, chilies, tomatoes, and a few leafy vegetables. I affirmed to keep my plants away from the weeds and pests. I took assistance from my uncle with organic manures and compost to get a better yield and prettier blossoms for every morning to wake up to. I have used unused plastic bottles to grow creepers and a few flowering and herb plants to create an aesthetic outlook for my garden. Plants such as basil, money plants, rosemary, spinach, and much more hanging houseleeks were grown from the waste bottles. The proper amount of sun and shade are required as it may inhibit adequate plant growth. Butterflies, honey bees, flower beetles are a regular visitor to my garden. A few of my houseplants are ferns, dracaena, philodendron, and aglaonema. The vegetables I have grown are placed in a sunny spot, and there’s an ample amount of water supply adjacent to it. These vegetables are used in our kitchen daily.

Essay on “My favourite Hobby “Gardening”” Complete Essay for Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation and other classes.

My favourite Hobby “Gardening”

The small garden in front of my house is the result of my favorite hobby, gardening. Gardening is my favorite hobby. I think, it is the best of all the hobbies which one can follow with a lot of amusement and benefit to health. I have laid out a smaller of amusement and benefit to health. I have laid out a smaller garden in front of my house. When I sit in my smaller garden a great pleasure. Sweet fragrant flowers of different hues sweeten as my mind. It helps me in many ways. While working in the garden not only do I spend my time in a better way but also improve my health as thus I spend my time in better way but also improve my health as thus I take exercise unwillingly. It brings me close to Nature and I feel lost like Wordsworth in the beauty of blooms and blossoms around me.

The garden in front of my house is small, no doubt, but even then I am proud of it because it is the result of my own hard labor. There are smaller beds of flowers in which I grow seasonal flowers. When the plants bear blossoms, I feel a thrill of joy in my mind and take pride in my creative labor. Whenever any of my friends asks me anything about sowing and maintaining of plants. I give him information with elated feelings.

Surrounded by the beds of flowers is a smaller lawn with soft velvety green grass. I am very fond of this lawn ad take pride in maintaining it trim, tidy and neat. In the evening we sit in this lawn and talk chat and discuss several things. I have grown fruit fetes along the fringes of the grass lawn. Some of the fruit trees yield fruits but most of them are still young. Whenever any one of my friends comes. I offer him the fruits of my own garden with pride. The grapes, guavas and pomegranates of my garden are very sweet and juicy. Last year I planted a mango sapling which to the surprise of my friends, relatives and even myself, has borne fruit this year. Whenever any visitor comes to my house these days, I very proudly invite his attention to the hardly two feet tall tree that bears the fruit. This little garden is a place where I find peace and happiness.

Essay No. 2

Gardening is not very difficult. It involves preparing the soil, planting vegetables or flowers and paying attention to the garden. Many people make gardening their hobby and it is also a good form of exercise.

The first step in gardening is the preparation of the soil. If the soil is not god, the garden will not flourish. Dig the surface of the earth; then mix the top soil with manure and water. If you are planning a vegetable garden, prepare hedges for different vegetables you hope to plant; however flowers do not need hedges.

The vegetables or flowers that you will plant are often young plants in a water- proof bag. Dig a small hole , place the small plants along with the soil into the ground and cover with the mixed soil. Water the new plant.

After planting, you should pay close attention to your garden. This involves removing the weeds, removing dead leaves around the plants and watering the garden often.

Gardening makes one happy; when one is tired of studying or staying indoors, gardening gives one the opportunity to make light work outside. Moving around in the garden is also a kind of exercise for the body. A garden is also beneficial, as it provides people with flowers and vegetables.

Set 1: Essay On My Hobby Gardening

Hobbies are the best means of entertainment, knowledge and spending our leisure time. Hobbies bring happiness to our idle routine life. They keep us away from bad habits. Hobbies depend upon the likings of an individual. There are many types of hobbies- reading, stamp collection, coin collection, sports, singing, dancing, etc.

My hobby is gardening . I love nature very much. My parents are also very fond of gardening. I acquired this hobby from them. We have a spacious garden in the backyard. We have a couple of trees like mangoes , lemon, chikoo, and guava.

We also have a variety of flowering plants like Rose , Mogara, Chameli, Hibiscus, Lily, etc. I spend one hour in the evening in the garden. I regularly water the plants and manure them. I remove the weeds and do all the essential work there. I feel very comfortable when I am in my garden. All the plants and trees are my friends . I talk to them. They make me happy whenever I am in a bad mood. Working in the garden keeps me physically fit.

Many birds regularly visit our garden. They build their nests at suitable places. I enjoy watching them. I have got a good knowledge of birds. I can identify them and know their food habits. We get a good amount of fruits and vegetables from our garden. I spend a big part of my pocket money on my hobby. I keep on buying seeds, new plants, garden equipment, manure, etc. Some of my friends also have the same hobby. We discuss this with each other. We visit the flower and plant exhibitions held in the city .

Thus this hobby keeps me tension-free and fresh. I feel much nearer to God and Mother Nature when I am in the garden.

Set 2: Essay On My Hobby Gardening

A hobby is one’s best past time. It is something which while giving satisfaction is enjoyable too. But given a choice, gardening is a very pleasant and rewarding as a hobby. A little piece of land in front or at the back or around the house is enough to launch this hobby. After the day’s hard work, or even before the day begins early in the morning and then for the whole day on a holiday one can enjoy to indulge and involve himself in this hobby.

Right from digging the earth, beating down the moulds into fine-soil, then turning them into small beds, mixing the manure in the soil, one is ready to plant the seeds or the saplings or the seedlings and then softly watering them. In the process one has to select what grows where to give a real glorious glow to the piece of land which may be a pleasure to the eye as also productive for the hobbyists.

If the piece of land is big enough, one arranges and selects proper places for the fruit plants, the papaya, the lemon, the guava, the big banana or even the pomegranate and lichi, but in case it is just a small piece of land one limits oneself to the flowers and a few creepers.

Each day is a day of care and caution, with an eager and an expectant eye one watches the sprouting from the seeds, or the saplings or seedlings, taking roots, and standing up on their own. Gradually the flower seeds have shown up the sproutings and the seedlings showing up new leaves and the growth is watched with such a sense of satisfaction and enjoyment when finally the flowers bloom into their dazzling multi-coloured hues and there is, as if a riot of colours all around. ‘Dancing with the daffodils’ – this is what the great nature-poet Wordsworth has said and rightly so. The hobbyist’s heart also gets elated to watch the perfect result of his labours. And then after months of looking after the grape wine or the papaya or the guava or the banana in a bunch, show up their face first; it is a gratification indeed. The labour has been rewarded.

Thus goes on the game of gardening. Gardening, as a hobby has so many advantages. One can spend one’s leisure time in physical work, which exercises the body; the results elate the mind and the fruits fresh and free are a pleasure to be tasted. Spending spare time in useless gossip or straining the eyesight viewing the T.V. – all this is hardly a useful utilization of one’s leisure. You dig, you till, you soil with your hands, you even sweat in the process and the least of it all, you are constantly in the company of nature which company is never boring never tiring rather, it is ever rewarding in every way. You reap the fruits of your labour-what else can be so satisfying than that. You are face to face with the spirituality of the matter how from such a small seed gets produced such beauty, such lustre and such a result. God’s nature is wonderful

that’s what you have at last to feel and say. This is thus the most rewarding hobby, if one develops it and enjoys it too. The hobby of gardening can give us an insight in understanding the purport of what Wordsworth has said in these lines about nature. One impulse from the vernal wood May teach you more of man Of moral evil and of good Than all the Sages can.

Nature is the book from which one can learn all that the creation is about, the mysteries of life, the beauties of life and the bounties bestowed upon us by the creator.

Set 3: Essay On My Hobby – Gardening

Hobby is a work which we do in our spare time. Hobby is a favourite pursuit or interest apart from one’s occupation. It is different from regular work. Hobby keeps us usefully busy and provides a welcome change in the dull routine of life.

There is a wide range of hobbies. Some people sit in company and pass their leisure time in playing cards or chess. Some read books in a quiet corner of their house. Some take up gardening, stamp and coin collecting, photography, fishing, hunting, painting, clay modelling and so on. Whatever hobbies a man may choose, the main object should be to derive aesthetic pleasure, mental a relaxation, physical freshness and recreation from them.

My hobby is photography. It is a very useful hobby as it trains the mind as well as the eye. Photography develops taste for beauty and also makes us careful, smart and neat. I feel that there is no other hobby so interesting and useful as photography.

My uncle presented me a camera on my birthday and since then my interest in photography kept on increasing. I have a great collection of photographs in my album. I go to nearby hills, gardens and zoo and take photographs. Whenever I feel tired and bored, I look at the photos and get refreshed and get a great joy.

She handed me a tiny seedling and shared stories of her own grandmother doing the same. It’s a family tradition!

Over time, the tiny seedling had grown into a large tomato plant with many juicy red tomatoes. Harvesting those tomatoes with my grandma was a joy I won’t forget. We spent hours in her kitchen making delicious homemade spaghetti sauce out of them. Just the smell alone brought back so many memories.

My time in the garden with my grandma showed me that gardening is more than just a hobby; it’s a way to connect with our roots — literally and figuratively. The garden became something we both loved, bringing us closer together and creating a strong bond. Now, I share that same bond with my daughters.

If the garden is your favorite place, consider inviting other family members to join you in the dirt. It’s a great way of bonding with people. The memories you’ll create will be worth every ounce of soil.

Overcoming My Challenges With Gardening

My daughter and I are standing in a lush garden filled with tomato plants, one of the reasons why I love gardening.

Gardening isn’t all sunshine and blooming roses. It has its thorny moments, but the good thing is that every setback teaches us to be strong.

My first attempts at all aspects of gardening didn’t go very well. I watered the plants too much, didn’t realize how important sunlight was, and neglected to take care of the soil. It was a learning experience, to say the least.

But I didn’t give up. Instead, I saw these moments as opportunities to learn. I read books, went to workshops, and asked experienced gardeners in my community for advice.

I’ll share some other challenges I faced with gardening and the life lessons I learned:

  • Bugs – Dealing with annoying bugs can be a big problem for gardeners. When I first dealt with aphids, my beautiful roses suffered a lot. Instead of using chemical sprays, I used natural ways to control pests . I brought helpful bugs like ladybugs and lacewings to my garden and planted companion plants.
  • Soil – I learned that different soil types pose challenges for my plants. To address this, I became knowledgeable about soil. I improved my clay soil with compost . I added organic matter to my sandy beds. I also tried using raised beds and containers for more control over the growing medium.
  • Weather – Mother Nature can be unpredictable, from scorching heat to unexpected frosts. I lost some of my favorite plants due to extreme weather, but I started planting with the climate in mind instead of getting upset. I used drought-tolerant plants and protective coverings like shade cloths and frost blankets to help my strong plants thrive.

I encountered many challenges, but each one helped me become a better gardener and more determined to succeed. Gardening has shown me that setbacks are just opportunities in muddied overalls.

Reasons Why I Love Gardening

Gardening is more than just a hobby for me. I find joy and peace in it. In the following sections, I will explain why I love gardening and how it enriches my life.

1. Gardening as My Therapeutic Escape

My grandmother and my younger self joyfully picking green tomatoes together in her garden, the moment that made me realize why I love gardening.

Gardening is my refuge, sanctuary, and personal therapist. Everything else fades away when I enter my garden. Caring for plants in this lovely space, feeling the soil, and watching them grow brings peace and joy to people who experience it.

Research shows that spending time in nature can help reduce stress and anxiety and lower blood pressure ( source ). Gardening also improves your heart rate, making it heart-healthy.

Gardening is calming because it engages multiple senses. You see bright colors, feel soft petals, and smell earthy scents, contributing to your overall peace. This moment with nature relaxes me, and you’ll be surprised at how this simple act can transform your mental state.

2. Gardening as My Lifelong Learning Pursuit

My daughter and I smile joyfully while standing in a sunlit tomato garden, one of the reasons why I love gardening.

Gardening is a lifelong journey of learning. It’s always changing and requires us to stay open to new knowledge. It’s like finding a hidden library, where each plant and plot offers something new to discover.

The more time I spend in the garden, the more I realize that the soil is not just a place for plants to grow — it’s also fertile ground for my personal growth.

Here are a few of the many skills and insights gardening has taught me:

  • Creative Problem-Solving – Every season brings challenges, like pests, diseases, and climate issues. But these problems also create opportunities for innovation. You can try approaches like companion planting. You can also use homemade remedies. Or, you can just observe and adapt.
  • Experimentation – Gardening is a fun and interesting hobby for curious people. Over the years, I have tried growing different types of plants. Some of my experiments succeeded. Others taught me about resilience and letting go.
  • Patience – Gardening teaches us that good things take time. It shows us the value of patience and care. When we see the first shoots or blooms, it feels even more rewarding.

Gardening isn’t just about turning empty land into lush gardens. It has made me a lifelong learner and enhanced my awareness of life. It’s a journey of never-ending fascination and self-discovery, all sparked by planting and watching a seed grow.

3. Gardening as My Source of Fresh, Nutritious Food

A white plate filled with various fresh leafy greens is placed on a rustic wooden table, one of the reasons why I love gardening.

My garden is not just a piece of land; it’s where I grow fresh, healthy food. Gardening has changed the way I think about food. The happiness I feel when I pick a ripe tomato or bite into a freshly harvested cucumber is amazing. It’s not just about the taste; it’s about the incredible nutrition.

Here’s how growing your own delicious produce can be a game-changer for your diet:

  • Nutritional Superiority – Growing your own fruits and vegetables at home can result in produce that tastes better. It is also more nutritious than the store’s. This is because you have full control over the soil quality, the fertilizers, and the methods used to control pests.
  • Rich in Antioxidants – When you grow your own crops, you can enjoy them at their best. They’re packed with vital antioxidants that are good for your health.
  • Variety and Seasonality – Ever wondered why a tomato from the farmers’ market tastes better than one from the supermarket in the winter? Homegrown produce lets you try different varieties of plants and fruit-bearing trees and enjoy food when it’s in season and at its best.
  • Reduced Chemical Exposure – Controlling plant growth can help you avoid or reduce synthetic pesticides and herbicides. This helps ensure that your food is as clean and safe as possible.

I find it satisfying to know that the food on my plate comes from just steps away. I eat mindfully, savoring each bite. I appreciate the journey from seed to table. I’ve learned that the freshest, healthiest food is not just an indulgence. It’s a daily celebration of nature’s gifts.

4. Gardening’s Positive Environmental Impact

A person's hands gently surrounding a small green seedling planted in the soil, embodying why I love gardening.

Gardening is not just about making our surroundings beautiful. It is also about taking care of the earth we live on. Gardening has a big positive effect on the environment and goes beyond just the surface.

Let me walk you through some of the key reasons gardening is good for the environment :

  • Carbon Footprint Reduction – By growing my own food, I’ve reduced the produce I buy from stores. Store-bought produce often travels long distances, adding to carbon emissions. I also compost kitchen scraps and yard waste. This reduces the organic matter that goes to landfills. It helps stop the creation of harmful greenhouse gases.
  • Increased Biodiversity – I planted various plants and wildlife-friendly trees in my garden. I’ve created homes and food for pollinators, birds, and helpful insects. Watching these different species thrive in my garden has made me realize how important it is to conserve and protect the intricate web of life.
  • Water Conservation – I use smart watering methods, including collecting rainwater and using drip irrigation. They have helped me use less water. Putting mulch on garden beds keeps the soil moist, so I don’t have to water as much.
  • Soil Health and Conservation – I’ve improved my soil’s health. I did this by switching from synthetic fertilizers to organic amendments and compost. This has made the soil more resilient and less likely to erode. Practices like crop rotation and cover cropping keep the soil’s structure and fertility good. They stop nutrients from running off into nearby water bodies.

Gardening may seem small, but it greatly impacts the environmental balance when many people garden. It has given me a real way to help the environment, making me feel a strong connection to wildlife and our planet.

5. Gardening as My Creative Outlet

I’ve always loved art, but it wasn’t until I started gardening that I found a truly dynamic creative outlet. Gardening is like painting with nature. I’m the director, and the plants are my actors. Every step allows me to use my artistic instincts, from planning to seeing the changes each season.

My garden is like a blank canvas. I can shape it with my ideas and a few basic design principles. Planning the layout of beds, walkways, and focal points is where the fun begins. Choosing beautiful plants with colors, textures, and heights creates a masterpiece.

You must capture your artistic vision to create a successful garden design plan . You must also think about the practical aspects of your space and climate. By thoughtfully placing plants of different heights and textures, you can add depth and layers to your landscape.

Your garden is always changing. Feel free to try new things, take risks, and let your personality show. It’s a way to express yourself, whether in an outdoor garden or an indoor space. A touch of nature makes every environment more vibrant and personal, adjusting to the pace of life around it.

I highly recommend it if you haven’t started this green journey yet. The benefits are varied, like the flowers in a meadow. They offer a break from city life. They are a chance to grow as a gardener and person. And they bring the joy of watching life thrive under your care.

Essay on Gardening as a Hobby

Each day is a day of care and caution, with an eager and an expectant eye one watches the sprouting from the seeds, or the saplings or seedlings, taking roots, and standing up on their own. Gradually the flower seeds have shown up the sproutings and the seedlings showing up new leaves and the growth is watched with such a sense of satisfaction and enjoyment when finally the flowers bloom into their dazzling multi-coloured hues and there is, as if a riot of colours all around.

‘Dancing with the daffodils’ this is what the great nature-poet Wordsworth has said and rightly so.

Spending spare time in useless gossip or straining the eyesight viewing the T.V. all this is hardly a useful utilization of one’s leisure.

You dig, you till, you soil with your hands, you even sweat in the process and the least of it all, you are constantly in the company of nature which company is never boring never tiring rather, it is ever rewarding in every way. You reap the fruits of your labour what else can be so satisfying than that. You are face to face with the spirituality of the matter how from such a small seed gets produced such beauty, such lustre and such a result. God’s nature is wonderful that’s what you have at last to feel and say. This is thus the most rewarding hobby if one develops it and enjoys it too.

The hobby of gardening can give us an insight in understanding the purport of what Wordsworth has said in these lines about nature.

  • One impulse from the vernal wood
  • May teach you more of man
  • Of moral evil and of good
  • Than all the Sages can.

Nature is the book from which one can learn all that the creation is about, the mysteries of life, the beauties of life and the bounties bestowed upon us by the creator.

My hobby is reading books. Reading a book is one of my favorite pass times and since I work with words for a living it is also one of my favorite work tasks. There are no words that can describe my admiration and respect for the written word and the modest book that houses them. Even though great thinker of antiquity like Socrates despised the written word calling it unresponsive and dead we have to give out thanks to its ability to conserve knowledge for generations.

My hobby reading books is the best way to escape from the torment of the world and to rest in a world of imagination. Undisturbed by the troubles of my life, my mind can rest from all the stress it goes through every day and find comfort in the words of wise writers or happiness in those that like more light-hearted topics.

Not only do I read books but I also collect them and spend endless hours searching for the right edition for their collection. I even save up money so that I can buy books and extend my library or spend fortunes on rare historic manuscripts.

The fact of the matter is that there is no better way for me to rest and at the same time practice my brain by reading a book, so as far as my hobby reading books goes this way, it is the best pass time I can have. Believe me, once you start exploring the sea of stories written on paper you will never want to stop exploring.

Hobby is something that is of our interest and keeps us engaged in our free time with a free mind. A good habit will not only help us to escape from our daily cores but also keeps us peaceful. Studies prove that practicing a good hobby will keep us away from many mind related problems and loneliness as well.

Reading books as My Hobby:

Hobby is something that develops with us from an early age. I find happiness in reading books in my lonely time to free my mind of stress and study pressures. My hobby is reading books. Reading books is the best knowledge gaining hobby. My hobby reading books has helped me to improve my language too. When I start reading, I create my own imaginary and creative world to travel with the story.

Reading thriller novels will help me to travel to that world with mystery and stories with adventures will improve my creative side, as I am constantly imagining the scenario that’s happening in the story and so on. Thus my hobby reading books interest me the most, has helped me to understand the language better, create noble and ideal thoughts in me and more.

Inspirational and instructive books have always inspired my growing mind to follow the better path to achieve my life goal. By reading books I can be updated on the present world. A person with understandability towards anything will be able to acquire their desired heights more easily and books are molding me to be one.

Living amidst books makes me feel happier and loneliness has never touched me at any point in my life. Books have become my best friend since childhood and I can feel the positive changes they create in me.

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

We have all heard of this adage time and again and it also throws light on how important it truly is to make sure that we all have a hobby.

The game of cricket:

Well, my hobby is cricket as I have been enjoying this sport since a very tender age. I remember gazing from the winnow of my room and watching the grown-ups immerse themselves in a game of cricket. I would spend hours watching them and remembering the different shots, the way the bowlers threw the ball at different angles and even imagined myself excelling at cricket.

The need for passion:

I believe that regardless of what we choose, it is important for each one of us to have a hobby. My hobby is something which keeps me going and it adds to my verve and energy. If you develop a good hobby, it will make sure that you would have something to unwind your mind.

When I go out to play cricket, in that moment, I do not think of anything else as I am cool, composed and nothing else matters. So, if you have not yet found your thing which you can truly call as a hobby, I suggest you do so.

I knew my hobby since a tender age and it soon grew into my passion and I can say with utmost pride that I am quite good at cricket. When you truly love something, your zest will give you the kick to excel in it too.

I have a lot of hobbies to pass my time. One of such things is drawing. Even when I was a little child, drawing has always made me happy. Sitting quietly in a place, I can draw for hours. It keeps me busy and relaxes my mind. There is a little secret to why I love drawing so much.

As a person, I am less talkative. Because of that, there are very few friends in my life. The thing is that, instead of speaking out everything, I prefer to express my emotions silently. And drawing just helps me do that.

Sketching is not merely a pass time to me. God has given me a beautiful way to share my thoughts and feelings through drawing. It is an art that becomes my voice when I wish to be quiet. Moreover, drawing also helps me connect more with nature. Trees, birds, animals, rivers, clouds are some of the favorite things that I like to draw.

My art teacher praises the passion I have for drawing. She also appreciates the blending of shades and strokes of brushes when I paint something. My parents and friends always encourage me for the same.

I wish to pursue drawing for the rest of my life. It is my dream to become a true artist one day and that is only possible with regular practice and devotion.

Introduction:

My hobby is dancing. Dancing is the art of performing purposefully selected sequence of movements by humans. Dance is a beautiful hobby that slowly builds in an individual. Dancing becomes a hobby to people who like to listen to music because as they listen, they tend to accompany the beats with dance moves. Although some people might be enjoying music but they are unable to dance because dancing is a performance that requires a skill that not everyone can master.

How it began:

Ever since I was a child, I have been chubby and so my parents had to sign me up for dancing lessons so that I can get physically fit. The dancing lessons seemed enjoyable but when I joined the first class I was unable to dance. I developed a strong determination to learn how to dance because by nature I do not like to accept failure. Within a few weeks, I had learned how to dance and it grew in me and dancing became my hobby. I would dance everywhere and that is how I grew fond of my hobby dancing.

Benefits of My Hobby Dancing:

Through my hobby dancing, I was able to lose weight and my chubbiness was gone. The regular dancing that I have been doing has kept me fit. Sometimes I make money from dancing especially during the holidays. Dancing at events or festivals earns me money. At school, I have won awards because I participate in dance as an extracurricular activity. It is a great feeling to have dancing as my hobby because it is what I love and enjoy.

Who are we without our hobbies? Apart from our physical appearances, the collection of the things we do is what makes us distinct from the next person. While there are things we do simply because we have to, we do others because we love to.

Hobbies are things we do because we have a natural inclination to do so. They give us so much pleasure that we would spend our life time doing it. This is why people try to build their respective professions around their hobbies. By so doing, an ordinarily difficult task suddenly becomes simple.

My love for sewing:

Though I have a lot of hobbies, my love for sewing stands out from the crowd. It all started when my mother bought a sewing machine when I was younger. I was immediately fascinated by the mechanical excellence of the equipment. First, it was the way the machine rolled. Then I was puzzled about the thread movement and how it miraculously turned torn pieces into masterpieces.

Subsequently, my curiosity became a source of entertainment. I would play around the machine and time would disappear while I do so. I would cut my old clothing and run it through the machine just to see it move. Slowly and surely, I became enchanted with sewing so much that it dominated my thought and became my hobby.

Now, I would not leave a single week without creating something adorable with the sewing machine. A few moments spent away from this intriguing environment feels like an eternity. What’s more, I have found that sewing has a therapeutic effect on me. It helps clear my thought and keeps me focused on a single task. Though there is financial gain in this endeavor I do it simply for the thrill.

Me and my hobby:

Sewing is my hobby and it is refreshing to me but over time I realized that by virtue of my love for this craft I became interested in related fields. First, I have to create a sketch of what to sew. This process is a purely creative one. As I draw, I can picture what I would do to the real fabric when I eventually get on the machine. I also visualize what the eventual dress would look like on me or whoever would eventually wear it.

Then, I cut pieces of the fabric as outlined in my drawings. The cutting stage is mainly about precision. The materials have to be systematically shaped in such a way that it fits the measurement taken. Any deviation from this would lead to undesired results.

Finally, the pieces are carefully held together by the automated needle of the machine. This is the most fulfilling part of the process. This is so because seeing the conceptualized idea come to bare serves as an icing on the cake. However, the feeling of excitement I experience after the cloth is made quickly evaporates. I am immediately left with the desire to start over again. Though the process might seem mechanical or even uninspiring to an onlooker, I wouldn’t trade my hobby of sewing for anything else in the world.

Any activity which one does for pleasure is called as a hobby. It can anything ranging from reading books, spending time with your pets, travelling around, talking to new people, just anything which gives immense pleasure to a person and relieves a person of the tensions of daily life. Overall these years, I have the pleasure of reading the Harry Potter series, which still remain the best, The Shiva Trilogy from Amish Tripathi, books from good authors both from India and abroad.

We all participate in some kind of activity in line with our interests that we derive joy and happiness from; this activity is our hobby. We all have different hobbies based on our interests, dislikes and likes.

Types of Hobbies:

There are a lot of different types of hobbies that we can show interest in and develop, examples of hobbies are singing, dancing, playing outdoor or indoor games, drawing, collecting antiques, bird watching, writing, photography, reading, eating, playing, sports, music, gardening, cooking, watching TV, talking and any other activity you can think of. Our different hobbies that become a source of earning money and a means of livelihood and we can build a very successful career out of our hobbies. A hobby is meant to be enjoyed in our leisure time but it can become a lot more than that.

My Hobbies:

One popular misconception is that we can have only one hobby; this is totally not true. As a child growing up, I loved and enjoyed cooking and I would spend hours watching cooking programmes and watching my parents cook. Sooner rather than later, I also started trying out different recipes and dishes I had seen on TV and sometimes even tweaked a few things and made delicacies of my own. Cooking gave my childhood so much joy and bliss which made it one of my hobbies, I could cook all day and I get just happy at the thought of trying out a new recipe. Another hobby of mine is soccer which is kind of an accidental hobby (if there is anything like that). I had always loved watching football (or soccer) and was pretty good at analysis and understanding of the game but I never really tried playing the sport because of my first hobby that is cooking which meant I was more of the indoor person. Fate would have it that one of my close friends was on the varsity soccer team and all the goalkeepers got injured so he told me about an open audition for the position of goalkeeper and I just decided to try out. I was wonderful at the try outs and got a spot on the varsity soccer team, I became a pretty brilliant goalkeeper and I look forward to every opportunity to get on the field of play. There is this feeling of fulfilment and satisfaction I get anytime I am on the field of play. It is very possible to have more than one hobby so open yourself to the possibilities of all the different activities and interesting things around us.

My Favourite Hobby:

My favourite hobby is gardening. I spend most of my leisure time when I am not cooking or playing soccer in gardening. Gardening has been a huge source of knowledge, education, delight and entertainment to me. I have had the opportunity to learn a lot of new things on flowers, plants, vegetables, butterflies and even birds from gardening. My parents have a little plot of land where I pursue and practice this hobby. I have different varieties of vegetables, flowers and a few fruit trees in my garden. Some of the vegetables I grow are carrots, tomatoes, cauliflower, cabbage, spinach, radish, chillies, bitter gourd, etc. I also grow flowers like jasmine, roses, lilies, merry gold, carnation, poppies, flux and forget-me-not. These flowers make the garden a delight to behold and give the garden a soothing fragrance.

There are a few fruit-trees in the garden including banana, mango, guava and pomegranate. The garden is visited often by quite a number of birds and there are even some birds are live permanently on the fruit trees. The chirping sound made by the birds and their sweet music gives the garden the perfect condition and makes it the ideal place to be.

Gardening has also helped my other hobby (soccer) by keeping me mentally alert, physically fit and very fresh. The ambience of the garden is highly invigorating, fresh and soothing; there is calmness to the atmosphere of the garden. The processes and activities involved in gardening include weeding, digging, grafting, cutting, maturing, watering and the tilling of the soil. All of these activities get me the needed physical exercise I need to make my body fit and keep me sharp mentally.

A lot of family members and friends appreciate my hobby gardening. Over the years, I have been able to develop skills needed in gardening, sometimes; my father also helps me maintain the garden. I have a worthy and wonderful collection of magazines and books on vegetables, flowers, fruit trees and also gardening overall. It is quite a wonderful experience to watch plants grow, develop and blossom.

I am not full of knowledge in gardening; sometimes, I get advice and help from a professional gardener so as to know the right thing to do. I spend a large chunk of my money purchasing manure, seeds, fertilisers, books on gardening and gardening tools and implements. I try to catch all the programmes on television about gardening, I visit plant and flower shows and also fruit and vegetable exhibition. I try my possible best to balance all my hobbies, studies and other engagements without hurting any one of them for the others.

Gardening motivates me and gives me a sense of purpose about what I can achieve with my life. Once I am gardening, I forget about all of my worries, troubles and problems of the world. I am my happiest when I am working in the garden or when I get to give my friends and my family members fruits from the garden.

How To Write An Essay On ‘My Garden’ For Primary Classes

Shaili Contractor

Key Points to Remember When Writing an Essay on ‘My Garden’ for Class 1, 2, and 3 Kids

10 lines on ‘my garden’ in english, short paragraph on ‘my garden’, long essay on ‘my garden’ in english for kids, what will your child learn from this essay.

Gardening is a fun hobby for children. It involves planting different types of plants and trees that bear fruits, vegetables, or flowers in a well-planned manner on a plot of land or in pots. It is an enriching activity that many families take up. Children are introduced to it by parents to help them understand the importance of learning how to grow a plant. Many children are familiar with gardening and will be confident while writing an essay on this topic. Those who haven’t engaged in gardening may get interested in the activity through this topic.

‘My Garden’ is a fairly advanced topic for young children. Here are some points to remember when composing an essay on the topic:

  • When writing about this topic, it is essential to talk about both the facts and how one feels about their garden.
  • Gardening can be done on the ground and in planters. Children who are exposed to gardening in planters can focus on the specifics of potted plants.
  • While writing short essays on your garden, stick to general points about gardening that are relatable.
  • When writing long essays, add facts about gardening and tell the story of your garden.

The easiest way to write about a garden is to break it down into small segments as one-liners. An essay for class 1 on gardens can include simple points about gardening. A class 2 essay can consist of more facts.

  • My garden is one of the most beautiful parts of my house. The different types of plants and flowers make it very decorative and attractive.
  • Gardening helps us learn about the cycle of life and how to nurture plants.
  • By growing plants in our house, we get fresh air during the day and it also makes our home look so pretty!
  • Gardening is the best way to develop a deep love and understanding of nature.
  • Many people grow good fruits and vegetables in their gardens. I prefer flowers as they are very pretty to look at.
  • Half of my garden is dedicated to flowering plants, and the remaining has vegetables and herbs planted by my grandmother.
  • The vegetables harvested from our garden taste fresh and better than what we buy from stores.
  • My flowering plants also attract plenty of birds, insects and butterflies.
  • My garden is a haven for these small animals, and I love watching them all day.
  • Gardens require regular maintenance, without which they die eventually.

Children used to gardening work will have no problem writing about it. For those who have little experience in it, this short essay will give them some ideas:

Gardening is my favourite hobby, and I think my garden is the best place in my house. I can spend many hours every day working in my garden, and being there makes me feel fresh and happy. I got interested in gardening because of my mother and grandmother. They grow many different types of herbs, fruits and vegetables, which we eat and enjoy. My interest in gardening grew after my mother encouraged me to plant carrot seeds in a small pot. After a few weeks of taking care of them by watering and adding manure, I could harvest some baby carrots. Ever since then, I have been totally hooked on gardening.

My garden is in a small plot of land in my backyard. We grow flowering plants closer to the building, where there is some shade and some sunlight. For the vegetables, we choose a spot with plenty of sunlight, which they require to grow big. I have to maintain the garden by watering it every day or else the leaves will fade. I like sitting in the garden and relaxing in the fresh scenery. When my friends come home, I show them all the new flowers and plants I have added.

Class 3 students are expected to write a long essay on gardening. Your child can start by arranging all the ideas appropriately and weaving them into an engaging narrative. Here is an example for a descriptive essay on ‘My Garden’ for children of class 3:

I have always loved nature and greenery in every place I visit. My parents often take me out of the city to experience the countryside and beautiful nature that makes me feel alive. My city life is busy, and my garden is the only escape to nature in the middle of all the concrete buildings. I feel lucky to have enough space in my house to grow a beautiful garden. My garden is in the patch of land right next to my window. Not just that, I have plants in pots all around our house, including the terrace!

There is a small patch of lawn in my garden for my family and friends to sit and enjoy a leisurely time. We have planted hedges on the sides of the walls that give the garden a beautiful look and feel. The hedges grow fast, so they need to be trimmed often. Over a dozen different types of flowering plants decorate the house all around. I have planted flowering varieties both in the ground and in the pots. The flowers attract birds and butterflies, and it is the best sight in the world.

My mother has planted various vegetables in the section of the garden that faces our kitchen. We love eating the fresh vegetables we harvest from the garden. Different seasons are suited for growing different vegetables, but we have cherry tomatoes all year round.

Since my window faces the garden, the plants and flowers are the first things I see every morning after I wake up. Whether I am studying or just relaxing, my garden is my place of peace and zen. All my friends like to come and sit in my garden because of how fresh it feels. Gardening is an activity I believe everyone should take up even if they don’t have much space in the house. They will be surprised at how well some plants can do in a simple pot!

Writing about gardening will teach your children how to write about a hobby they enjoy. Gardening is an activity that most children would be familiar with. Most people have their first love of the opposite gender. But I’m not one of them. My first love is my cycle. From my childhood, I have loved cycling as it’s my first love and my hobby. My hobby has become an integral part of my life. Cycling is also a perfect solution for my fitness also.

My hobby allows me a lot of opportunities like keeping me in shape, exploring outdoors, and enjoying the beauty of nature. Now let me tell you, share my experience of cycling and the benefits of cycling as a hobby in detail.

The first major benefit of cycling is that it is a great form of cardio exercise. This workout is essential for our body joints, as in cycling you don’t need to lift heavy weights. According to studies, heavy weight lifting in the wrong way can damage your body joints in great instances.

Another benefit of cycling as a hobby is exploring many adventurous and natural sceneries. On the cycle, I often go with friends and explore new parts of the city, which results in increasing our knowledge about the different routes of the city.

The world is facing an enormous problem which is global warming. One of the main reasons for global warming is pollution and carbon emission. But the cycle is very eco-friendly and a good source of transportation. It doesn’t require any fuel or emit any harmful pollutants. This cycle is essential in numerous ways.

My Hobby Essay – 300 to 400 Words for Class 9,10 Students

When anyone talks about hobbies, we mostly witness the hobbies of men. It’s rare to hear about the hobbies of girls. So in this essay, I’m going to tell you about my hobby as a girl. Cooking is my hobby, this activity gives me a great sense of satisfaction.

For some girls, cooking is very irritating for them and they don’t even want to step into the kitchen. But for me, my hobby is relaxing therapy, every time when I step into the kitchen it feels like I enter heaven. I also want to advise girls, especially housewives, to love and enjoy cooking.

In cooking, I love to take on new challenges and do experiments with new ingredients and recipes. All of my family members praise me for my delicious cooking dishes. Not only my family but also my friends, whenever I invite them to lunch or dinner.

The one thing I love most about my hobby is its versatility. It offers a wide range of dishes like rice, curries, sweets, and so on. Whether I’m in the mood for something sweet, light, or hearty, there’s always something I can cook up to suit my cravings.  My hobby enables me to impress people by offering them delicious food.

Cooking is another way for people to get together. Whenever I invite my friends and colleagues, I cook food myself for them. And then we all sit together and enjoy the delicious food. So from this regard cooking is also a source of bond with others.

It’s a fact that cooking is not so easy for everyone. Sometimes things don’t turn out as I planned and my ingredients and recipe don’t work for my dish. At this moment when I’ve not that much energy and motivation. I used to think about my past success and eventually, my past success motivates me to cook more.

My hobby blesses me with peace of mind and body. It helps me to stay focused and productive which leads to developing a great character. Cooking also helps to improve my skills of creativity and to connect with others. Whenever I’m in the kitchen I feel great, as my hobby nourishes my mind and soul.
