The weather was very pleasant. Mussoorie is Rightly called the ‘Queen of Hills’. It transports one into a heaven of joy.

My parents took me to Lal Tibba, the highest point in Mussoorie. Lal Tibba provides a mesmerizing view of Himalayan mountain peaks. I was mesmerized to see beautiful scenery and high mountains. Memorable Day of My Life: 120 Words

Last month, our school arranged a trip to the Taj Mahal, Agra. The beauty of the Taj Mahal seemed to have no parallel.  It is made of white marble on the bank of the river Yamuna. The garden in front of it has tall cypress trees, colourful flowers, and rows of mountains. Many precious gems and stones are seen set on the tomb.

I found in the Taj Mahal the artistic and cultural heritage of India. Every stone of this building tells the story of the true love of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz. The white marble structure unrolled before me a new world of beauty. It is, indeed, matchless in beauty and grandeur. That’s why it is considered one of the seven wonders of the world. I was greatly charmed by its beauty. I felt breathless for a white. It was undoubtedly the most memorable day of my life.

A memorable incident is an incident which leaves an everlasting impression on our minds. The most memorable incident of my life is when I got an opportunity to exhibit my talent on stage in front of a huge audience. I always dreamt of becoming a singer. As a kid, I used my toothbrush as the mike and treated my dolls as my audience.

I was enrolled in a vocal training course in an eminent singer’s singing class and from there, based on my performance I was selected to display my skills at the Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Initially, I was a bit nervous, but got over it soon when I heard the tune. My performance was well received and the audience acclaimed me with their applauds and kept yelling “once more”. The incident made me feel on top of the world.

Memorable Day of My Life Essay: 200-250 Words

A moment which is sweet lasts long in our memory. I distinctly remember the day. My H. S. examination was over and I was having a relaxed time. One day, after spending the afternoon with my friends, I returned home.

My parents were waiting for me. Sister also came running. She was carrying a big envelope in her hand. They all seemed to be very excited and their faces bore reflections of animated joy. My sister shouted that there was a good news for me in the envelope and she would not tell unless she got a heavy bakshis.

After much cajoling, I could get the letter. Lo and behold! It was the admission letter from the I.I.T, Kharagpur. My joy then knew no bounds, I did quite well in the joint entrance examination. But to get selected finally in the highly competitive all-India test was something none could be sure of. In fact, I was a little tense to know the result.

Parents blessed me for my success. Neighbours also came. They all congratulated me again and again. I was lost in golden dreams. At last, I was going to join an institution of international fame! It was the happiest and most memorable day in my life because my future career got a definite direction that day. But that happy day taught me a lesson, too. I made up my mind to work hard in order to be successful in my career.

A remembering essay is a piece of writing that reflects remarkable memories from the past. It has to include either a fascinating story or a description of a person.

Wondering how to write an essay about a person or an event? Here are some basic features that it should have:

  • Description . Create a clear image of a person or an event you are talking about. Practice your descriptive writing skills to reach an outstanding result!
  • Actions . What were the person’s deeds? How did you act in a particular situation? Your work should contain the elements of a narrative essay. So, tell the reader how things were going and what was your reaction.
  • Dialogue . This element is optional but very useful, especially if you are writing a remembering a person essay. A conversation helps to reflect the genuine emotions the characters experienced.
  • Outcome . Your remembering essay should have a logical conclusion. Ask yourself several questions. Why is this event so significant for me? Why do I admire that person? Formulate your thoughts with proper words and put them in your conclusion.

❓ What to Write about?

There are plenty of remembering essay topics. You just need to brainstorm a bit.

Think of something that influenced your perception of life. It can be a serious event, like your relative’s or friends’ birth or death, getting a degree, choosing your education path, or getting employment. This can also be a simple event with a serious outcome.

Some of the ideas are as follows:

  • a deep conversation with your loved one,
  • watching a movie,
  • having a trip,
  • visiting a graduation ceremony, etc.

Describe how this occasion influenced you and why you will always remember it.

❓ How to Write it?

Essay writing is might be quite a challenging and stressful process. To make it smooth, follow our simple advice:

  • Concentrate on the conflict. Your remembering an event essay should focus on a specific conflict that leads to a logical resolution. In your thesis statement, state the dispute clearly, so the reader can quickly get your focus.
  • Keep the readers intrigued. While writing, structure the things logically. Let your readers go through this journey with you. Start from the least important events and gradually reach the most crucial part of your essay.
  • Describe the moments precisely. Make sure your story is detailed and emotional enough. Describe what did you feel as the event occurred. How did the surrounders respond? What were the conditions under which the event happened? Your reader should dive deep into that atmosphere.
  • Write a dynamic concussion. For a remembering essay, the conclusion plays an essential role. 🧔 Remembering a Person Essay: Guide

Do you need to write an essay about an important person, but you are too overwhelmed? No worries! If you don’t want to turn your essay writing process into a nightmare, look at our tips.

❓ Who to Write about?

Creating a paper about someone you know well is, of course, the best option. It is good to know several stories about them that you can introduce in the essay.

By the way, you can use those stories or anecdotes as a basis for your remembering essay. Yet, we should note that the person you choose should not necessarily be someone who played a crucial role in your life.

❓ What to Talk about?

You have to explain why you cherish the person you are talking about. We have already mentioned that several anecdotes involving them can serve as a basis for remembering a person essay.

One of the primary keys to an effective paper is a detailed description. Ideally, you should provide as many details as you can (however, not too many) so that a teacher can vividly imagine the person after reading your remembering a person essay.

Reading about an essay on memories can be helpful for this part.

📋 Remembering Essay Organization

How to organize the ideas effectively? You may find plenty of advice. But how about not wasting time on selecting the best strategy? Just take a look at ours and use one of them for your essay.

  • Chronological Order. It is the most common and effective way of narrating a story. Recall the events step by step. After your story’s climax, explain why the event is so remarkable for you and what lesson you get from it.
  • Unfulfilled Expectations. If you experienced an event with an unexpected outcome, consider applying this strategy. Start by telling the reader what did you expect from the situation. Then, describe what happened in reality. Finally, make parallels between the expectations and reality and explain how the mismatch of the outcomes affected you.
  • Metaphors. This strategy is for creative people who are willing to make their remembering essay outstanding. If you have several memories (from childhood or recent events), connect them all and associate them with one symbol. Make sure that the most important event is the last one in your story. In your conclusion, reveal the secret. Tell the reader why did you associate your memories with that same symbol.
  • Framing. It is kind of “a story in a story” strategy that will keep your reader intrigued till the very end. Start your remembering essay by telling one story that would lead to a flashback and another story. Not finishing the first one, introduce the second. Then, complete your initial story and explain how these two events are related. Don’t forget to highlight their impact on you.

Unforgettable Event that Changed my Life

How it works

Our lives are always shaped by events around us. This implies that human life is surrounded by everyday life decisions and choices which always bring about a result which may impact a closer or a far-off individual either positively or negatively. Despite the fact that we as low-level members of the society may not have had a hand in the decision made or we may not even have control over the outcome, it is upon us to synthesize the experience and the information pertaining to that event for us to be able to learn something out of it.

With the mentality of learning, comes the effect of persuasion which might influence an individual positively or negatively whereas some people might not actually be affected at all by the event. This is always because the event that occurred might have been insignificant to them in their perspective or they might have unconsciously blocked the memory of the experience to minimize and avoid the possibility of ever reliving it. It is however clear that whereas some events might be insignificant to others, every individual’s life has always been shaped by an event in one way or the other despite them knowing it or not.

?Events revolving around our lives are always vast and extensive and for this reason, these events might often be grouped into several few common categories such as political, social and economic and despite this diversity, each and everyone influences and affect different people in several different ways. Therefore, this paper is about an event that occurred in the country’s history and global history at a delicate stage of my life and ended up changing and shaping my life in a totally different way. A major political event that occurred on the 4th day of November 2008 completely changed my perspective of life altogether (Abramowitz). In 2008, I was a teenager and as it is common with all teenagers, I tried to have all sorts of fun and adventure while embracing the unjust societal norms I was raised in. In America, there exist several forms of inequalities and injustices which are often majorly associated with the minority groups of the African American origin or those of Hispanic origin as compared to the whites who have the white privilege.

?This particular event was historic and impacting in the sense that it was one of a kind and had never occurred in the world history. The then-junior senator of Illinois State Barack Hussein Obama who was an African America individual born in Hawaii which is not even part of the continental United States was elected as the 44th President of the United States which is one of the offices with the greatest power in the world. He was the first ever person of color to be elected into that office since the independence. Obama was not only elected by the people of color but also by the majority whites too and this became my first realizations that despite the existence of all the animosity and inequalities among the white and the people of color, citizens were still willing to come together to promote a better change and disregard any form of inequality. That day, all the American communities were seen celebrating together initiating a first step towards developing trust and eradicating societal inequalities. As an individual, I had to grow up believing that despite the inequalities and injustices, Americans and people all over the world could still come together in times of need to promote change for the better (Pasek et al.). All of us have the racism effect subconsciously imprinted in our brains but after seeing the impossible happen, some of the inequalities, injustices, and myths regarding the colored community were clarified thus I grew up believing in equality and that we are all the same and whatever can be achieved by one individual could be achieved by the other despite their differences in race or age. Thus, I was completely reformed regarding issues of inequality and injustices.

?Furthermore, Obama acted as a beacon of hope to all people, more so to me, after he was elected. Despite the fact that the United States citizens made an impossible decision which resulted in an extraordinary result, applause should also be given to President Obama for striving and achieving something which in many people’s minds seemed to be impossible. In a country with a majority of whites and white privilege, many odds were against him in terms of becoming the president. However, despite the odds, he did not give up but fought his way through the societal injustices to emerge on top by influencing and persuading many to elect him. This process thus required massive sacrifice and dedication to ensure that he did not lose but outgrew all the obstacles that presented. Obama’s victory was a victory for all individuals of a minority group (Abramowitz). Throughout my teenage years, I went through several problems such as run-ins with the law and sometimes it always felt like I was alone in the world and this was the end of the road for me. However, after what President Obama achieved, it was evident that we should always keep trying despite the obstacles because sooner or later, we always triumph over them and advance into a more peaceful/victorious existence.

?Contrary to many people’s opinions on a black president in the oval office, President Obama delivered as he promised on several matters. For instance, when he took office, the country was on the verge of recession with expensive lifestyles such as high taxes and medical care plans imposed on ordinary citizens. However, he enacted several changes to the government allowing even the middle and the low-class citizens to enjoy the American lifestyle in some perspective (Sullivan). He further went overboard to operate in a very harsh environment with the opposition party criticizing him and downgrading him on his job but he did not let this deflect him from his true objective as it is with true leaders. Therefore instead of focusing on rage, anger, and revenge on the insulting opponents, he channeled all his energy in servicing the country and the citizens to ensure he delivered on his campaign promises of developing America (Sullivan). As a transitioning adult from youth to adulthood, I had to learn more knowledge from the first term of Obama’s presidency. As he kept his word he kept his promises and this earned him a place in the society’s heart earning him a further second term to do even a better job. It is therefore important to stand to our promises so we may receive the award from the society instead of making false promises which might create societal unrest.

?In conclusion, my life changed for the better after the election event in 2008 because I was able to learn some of the greatest moralities present in the life of human beings. That was the time I realized that inequality should be stopped. I further learned that we are all similar and equal hence everybody is capable of achieving greatness despite their social class. Finally, I learned that it is important to keep promises as they reward and it is the correct thing to do whereas violating them is wrong and often has consequences. It is therefore clear that this event changed my life and dominated it for the better.

Last Sunday, I went shopping eagerly at the largest shopping mall in my town. My elder sister was accompanying me. As the important Christmas Day was just around the corner, the shopping mall was packed with people.

There were many girls and ladies who were hanging their handbags loosely over their shoulders. I also did likewise. Although my mother always advised me not to bring a handbag, or if I wanted to bring it, I must hang it carefully over my shoulder, I refused to do so. Her advice always fell on deaf ears.

Without paying upfront

As the shopping mall was having a mega sale, I was engrossed entirely in looking at the goods of low prices especially the clothes with cute little blue ribbons which I wanted to buy for a long time. They were offered at the discount of up to 70%! This made me not wary of my loosely-hanging handbag. I was also not aware that it had attracted the attention of a potential snatch thief. He was creeping towards me but my eyes were stuck on the clothes and I did not see him.

Suddenly, there was a pull on my shoulder. It made me lose the balance of my body and my arms hit the hanger of the clothes.Consequently, I had a bad cut. Blood was streaming down from my arm.

After waking up from my shock, I had let out a loud scream. “Stop him! My handbag! Thief! Thief! ” I shouted in panic and then, I could not even utter a sentence properly. An alert man heard my cry of help and made a bee line to the escaping snatch thief. The thief promptly ran down the staircase.

The determined man, without thinking, aimed at the thief and jumped towards the thief from the staircase. Finally, he pinned the thief down successfully. “Aha! I got you! There is no way for you to run away! ” the man announced happily. He then took my handbag back from the thief to return to its rightful owner, me.

At the same time, the security guards came and lent us a helping hand. They handcuffed the snatch thief and took him away. The man, my hero, came towards me and returned the handbag to me. I thanked him gratefully as all my pocket money which I had saved for some time was in my handbag.

Upon seeing my bleeding arm, he borrowed the first aid box from the officer of the shopping mall and helped me to clean the wound gently. After that, he advised me to carry my handbag carefully next time. I nodded to show my agreement as I was still in shock so I could not speak a single word. At this moment, my not-so-sensitive sister just realized that I was there, the victim of an incident.

I felt very embarrassed and asked my sister to take me back without any hitches. With a sad expression, we left the shopping mall. Before I left, I could hear some ladies muttering, “The thieves pose a danger in our society. We have to be careful next time.

” The incident was not only a lesson to me but also for other girls and ladies. When I reached home, my mother scolded me very badly. Without any hard feeling, I just stood there for the scolding until my mother felt exhausted. Then, I apologized to her for not paying heed to her advice earlier.

I went back to my bedroom to have a good nap as I really had to relax then. Was I thinking of going to the mall a second time to purchase my dream party dress? I was not sure, but I was certain that I would take good care of my handbag in the future. It was indeed an unforgettable event in my life.

Telling Short, Memorable Stories From Your Life: ‘My Secret Pepsi Plot’

An invitation to students to tell a meaningful story in a limited number of words, with an example from The Times’s Lives column to help.

unforgettable event essay

By Katherine Schulten

Our new Mentor Text series spotlights writing from The Times that students can learn from and emulate.

This entry, like several others we are publishing, focuses on an essay from The Times’s long-running Lives column to consider skills prized in narrative writing. We are starting with this genre to help support students participating in our 2020 Personal Narrative Essay Contest .

Our Personal Narrative Essay Contest is inspired by The New York Times’s Lives column, which ran from 1996 to 2017 and featured “short, powerful stories about meaningful life experiences .”

The editor of the column once posted some advice on “How to Write a Lives Essay” to guide those who submitted to the column annually. Much of that advice applies to our contest as well.

For example, several points boil down to reminders to keep it simple, including tips like:

Don’t try to fit your whole life into one “Lives.”

Don’t try to tell the whole story.

Tell a small story — an evocative, particular moment.

Better to start from something very simple that you think is interesting (an incident, a person) and expand upon it, rather than a large idea that you then have to fit into a short essay. For example, start with “the day the Santa Claus in the mall asked me on a date” rather than “the state of affairs that is dating in an older age bracket.”

This advice is similar to advice often given to high school seniors writing college essays : You have only 650 words to show admissions officers something important, interesting or memorable about who you are and what matters to you. A list of awards you’ve won won’t do it, but an engaging story about making brownies with your stepbrother just might.

Unforgettable Event It was a sunny evening, I felt so sleepy at that moment but there is curriculum class. I decided to take a short nap before attending the class. But unfortunately, I did not awake by the alarm that I had set. When I was wake up, it is already 2. 20 pm. There was only left 10 minutes for me to prepare all the things and rush to volley ball's field. I Just quickly wash my face and simply pick a shirt in my cupboard. Luckily, I still manage to be at volley ball's court on time.

Before starting the practice, the lecture gave us some brief about the technique of playing volley ball. He taught us how to pass, set and serve the ball. After the briefing, we start o

ur practice while our lecture was standing beside with a whistle observe us. Most of us blame about the hot weather but as the practice going on, slowly we started to enjoy the game. We decided to have a competition among our self and the lecture will be the referee to Judge our match. We had choosing 5 people for each team and I was chosen as one of them.

I was so excited as it is my first time having valley ball competition. After waiting for half an hour, it is my turn to play. I and my team members were ready steadily in the court waiting to beat down the opponent. But the luck seems like did not stand on our side, in 20 minutes time, our team had lose 5 marks that is 19-14. I felt a bit nervou

as the game will end soon. After 5 more minutes, we managed to catch up the opponent with the same score, 24-24. Finally, it was match point for the game.

At that moment, all of the supporters were watching the game Tuttle and I did feel the nervous and critical situation. Fortunately, I was given a chance by my team member to give a spike to the opponent. I Jumped as high as possible and gave a critical hit for the last mark! Suddenly, a 'Bismarck sound was breaking up the silent situation. Yeah, I was successful to contribute for the match point but I did not hear any clap for me, what I heard is only laughing from my friends. I Just realized that my pant was broken!

I can felt that my face was reddening and I closed the broken part with my hands. This action makes my friends felt funnier and I could hear more and more laugher. Some of my friends even tried to take off my hand and started Joking on me. I was so embarrassed as there were also some girls at the volley ball's court. As my hand was closing the broken part of the pant, I could not walk normally, I walked like a duck toward the lecture to ask for the permission for going back the hostel to change a new pant. I found that the lecture was also laughed at me and asked me to change a new pant.

Without wasting any time, I ran like a furious duck toward the hostel. After changing a new pant, I was so shy to go down the

volley ball's court for listening on their laughing. I decided for not to going down and sleep on the bed. Even though this embarrassed event had pass for a few months, but I still heard some of my classmate talk about it. After this unforgettable incident, I will check my pant carefully before wearing it. It was really an unforgettable event and I think I will remember it for the rest of my life. By examiner
