Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University or BAOU is an open university in Ahmedabad of Gujarat. The university found its existence in the year 1994 under the Gujarat State Legislature Act. BAOU was established with a mission to make quality education accessible to the unreached by creating a learner-centric environment. The university is the seventh oldest open university in India within the distance education framework. Operating via a three-tier structure - Headquarters, Regional-Centres and Learner-Support-Centres, the university has a total of 7 regional centres and operates with 254 learner support centres across Gujarat. The headquarters of BAOU is spread over 20 acres of land. BAOU Ahmedabad has achieved an A++ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). All the BAOU courses are offered via online mode and there are a total of 82 courses that are being offered at different academic levels of study. BAOU Admission 2024

The university has a centralised admission cell that ensures transparency in the admission process. BAOU admission is offered based on academic merit. Entrance Exams & Admissions : Any graduate with 50% can apply for master's in english online course.We need to fill up the forms online only and pay online too. Nothing was required.

Placements & Internships : No, there is nothing related to internship with a masters course in English. No placement was assured by the college. Usually after passing out we can apply for an assistant professor job. Salary approximately is 25k.

Fees & Scholarships : The course fee at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, [BAOU] Ahmedabad was around INR 10 k per year. I have no idea about that. Probably 5. Education loans are probably available, that someone needs to interact between university and bank.

Academics & Faculty : Saturdays and Sundays we used to have classes. Exams were conducted twice a year. June and December. Assignments were sent through courier as well as the books. Once you finish it in your given time, then a hard copy has to be submitted at study centers. It was very useful and constructive. it was immensely good.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : I didn't opt for hostel so I have no idea about it. PG's are definitely there, approximately 8k per month is the room rent. Food is good and approximately 30 rs per plate. It's quite an ancient college, the infrastructure is a bit historical but all amenities are available.

Clubs & Associations : I have no idea as it was a distant learning from my side. All departments usually celebrate their individual festivals on campus. Very enthusiastic, friendly and academic oriented.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University offers BA, B.Com and B.P.P as the undergraduate course.

The B.P.P. is the Bachelor’s Preparatory Program meant for those candidates who could not complete their senior secondary school due to certain circumstances but wish to pursue higher education to receive a Bachelor’s degree.
For B.P.P, the candidate should be 18 years of age.
He/she must have basic knowledge of Gujarati so that he/she can read and write in the language to get the admission in the B.P.P.

The university has B.Ed. program to offer to candidates who wish to pursue a career in the field of Education.

The course duration is 2 years.
Students are allowed to take up to 5 years to complete the course.
Admissions are conducted on the basis of the marks secured by the candidate in the entrance examination.

He/she should hold either an undergraduate degree or any other higher degree from a reputed institute.

He/she should have a teaching experience of a minimum of 2 years on either temporary or permanent basis.

For the teaching experience, the position can be any of these: Primary/Graduate/Post Graduate Teachers in primary, secondary/higher/senior secondary school having the approval of the central or state government or a union territory can apply.

BAOU offers post graduate courses in Hindi, English, Sociology and Gujarati.

The evaluation of these courses is done through Continuous Evaluation (30% weight) and End Semester Examination (70% weight).
The minimum requirement is that the candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree.
There is also a Diploma course, Post Graduate Diploma in Distance Education (PGDDE), offered at the post-graduate level.

The BRAOU also offers a Doctoral program.

The RDC panel makes the selection of students worthy of getting the admission in the program.
Initially, the candidates should fill in the Provisional Registration Form and submit it along with fee Demand Draft.
Regarding the coursework and other details of the course, the university publishes them all on the website.
The university then publishes a list of registered candidates whose Research proposal has been approved.
The waitlisted candidates receive notification once the first round of admissions is completed.

Students should keep following facts in mind while applying for any course at BAOU:

After ensuring that the candidate is fulfilling the eligibility, as mentioned in the prospectus, for paying the admission fee, he/she must fill in the details in 4 copies of the Pay-In-Slip for this purpose.
Once the payment is done, he/she must retain one copy for later use and reference, one copy should be attached with the admission form, the third copy should be submitted to the bank whereas the fourth copy needs to be submitted at the Study Center.
He/she must pay the Bank charges as stated in the Pay-In-Slip, regularly.
The student copy of the Pay-In-Slip should be kept carefully.
It is mandatory for him/her to mention the correct details such as admission form number, Center Code, Program Name, Program Fee, Name of the candidate on the Pay-In-Slip.
The Fee Receipt should carry the Bank Seal, Date, Journal Number and Bank Code.
Bank Details are to be filled only in the allocated column of the admission form.

College full of enjoyment and good memories

The admission task is easy. Writing exams are held in BAOU every year, in January and July each year. Tests were conducted at all BAOU centers. Students take the exam at a given BAOU exam center. The staff and supervisors of BAOU are well served by his / her duties.

Overall the college is great to develop your personality

There is no entrance exam in the college for admission in this particular course. You just have to fill a form with passport size photos, copy of 12th std result, and demand draft of prescribed fee given to BAOU study center. So, I find the process easy.

The admission procedure was quite simple for the students. The college provided admissions easily for the students on the basis of their 12th marks from the recognized board. I also got admission on the basis of my 12th board marks.

Good Education

One needs to have completed 10+2 (or equivalent) or successful in B.P.P. examination. For admission into this college, try to complete your 10+2 (or equivalent) with a good percentage otherwise you will be scraped off due to the competition.
