100 Interesting Research Paper Topics for High Schoolers

What’s covered:, how to pick the right research topic, elements of a strong research paper.

  • Interesting Research Paper Topics

Composing a research paper can be a daunting task for first-time writers. In addition to making sure you’re using concise language and your thoughts are organized clearly, you need to find a topic that draws the reader in.

CollegeVine is here to help you brainstorm creative topics! Below are 100 interesting research paper topics that will help you engage with your project and keep you motivated until you’ve typed the final period.

A research paper is similar to an academic essay but more lengthy and requires more research. This added length and depth is bittersweet: although a research paper is more work, you can create a more nuanced argument, and learn more about your topic. Research papers are a demonstration of your research ability and your ability to formulate a convincing argument. How well you’re able to engage with the sources and make original contributions will determine the strength of your paper.

You can’t have a good research paper without a good research paper topic. “Good” is subjective, and different students will find different topics interesting. What’s important is that you find a topic that makes you want to find out more and make a convincing argument. Maybe you’ll be so interested that you’ll want to take it further and investigate some detail in even greater depth!

For example, last year over 4000 students applied for 500 spots in the Lumiere Research Scholar Program , a rigorous research program founded by Harvard researchers. The program pairs high-school students with Ph.D. mentors to work 1-on-1 on an independent research project . The program actually does not require you to have a research topic in mind when you apply, but pro tip: the more specific you can be the more likely you are to get in!

Introduction

The introduction to a research paper serves two critical functions: it conveys the topic of the paper and illustrates how you will address it. A strong introduction will also pique the interest of the reader and make them excited to read more. Selecting a research paper topic that is meaningful, interesting, and fascinates you is an excellent first step toward creating an engaging paper that people will want to read.

Thesis Statement

A thesis statement is technically part of the introduction—generally the last sentence of it—but is so important that it merits a section of its own. The thesis statement is a declarative sentence that tells the reader what the paper is about. A strong thesis statement serves three purposes: present the topic of the paper, deliver a clear opinion on the topic, and summarize the points the paper will cover.

An example of a good thesis statement of diversity in the workforce is:

Diversity in the workplace is not just a moral imperative but also a strategic advantage for businesses, as it fosters innovation, enhances creativity, improves decision-making, and enables companies to better understand and connect with a diverse customer base.

The body is the largest section of a research paper. It’s here where you support your thesis, present your facts and research, and persuade the reader.

Each paragraph in the body of a research paper should have its own idea. The idea is presented, generally in the first sentence of the paragraph, by a topic sentence. The topic sentence acts similarly to the thesis statement, only on a smaller scale, and every sentence in the paragraph with it supports the idea it conveys.

An example of a topic sentence on how diversity in the workplace fosters innovation is:

Diversity in the workplace fosters innovation by bringing together individuals with different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, which stimulates creativity, encourages new ideas, and leads to the development of innovative solutions to complex problems.

The body of an engaging research paper flows smoothly from one idea to the next. Create an outline before writing and order your ideas so that each idea logically leads to another.

The conclusion of a research paper should summarize your thesis and reinforce your argument. It’s common to restate the thesis in the conclusion of a research paper.

For example, a conclusion for a paper about diversity in the workforce is:

In conclusion, diversity in the workplace is vital to success in the modern business world. By embracing diversity, companies can tap into the full potential of their workforce, promote creativity and innovation, and better connect with a diverse customer base, ultimately leading to greater success and a more prosperous future for all.

Reference Page

The reference page is normally found at the end of a research paper. It provides proof that you did research using credible sources, properly credits the originators of information, and prevents plagiarism.

There are a number of different formats of reference pages, including APA, MLA, and Chicago. Make sure to format your reference page in your teacher’s preferred style.

Thesis Topics For Seniors

All work and no play makes jack a dull boy: How to make your thesis journey fun?

Writing a thesis can be a long and challenging journey that requires a significant amount of time, effort, and dedication. However, it’s important to remember that taking breaks and finding ways to make the process more enjoyable can help you stay motivated and focused. At the same time, it is often there on every high schooler’s bucket list. Here are some tips to make your thesis journey more fun:

  • Break it down into smaller tasks: Writing a thesis can seem overwhelming, but breaking it down into smaller tasks can help make it more manageable. You can start by creating a list of tasks and prioritizing them based on importance and deadlines. Then, focus on completing one task at a time, rather than thinking about the entire thesis at once.
  • Set achievable goals: Setting goals that are realistic and achievable is important to maintain your motivation and focus. You can set daily, weekly, or monthly goals, depending on your needs and timeline. Celebrating each milestone can help boost your confidence and encourage you to keep going.
  • Create a supportive community: It can be helpful to have a supportive community while working on your thesis. You can join a study group, create a writing group with peers, or seek a mentor to provide guidance and support. Having people who understand what you’re going through can help you feel less alone and motivate you to keep working.
  • Find a comfortable workspace: Your workspace can have a big impact on your productivity and focus. Find a space that is comfortable and free from distractions. Make sure your desk and chair are at the right height, and that you have adequate lighting. A clutter-free workspace can also help you feel more organized and focused.
  • Take breaks: Taking regular breaks is important to avoid burnout and maintain your focus. You can take short breaks throughout the day to stretch, meditate, or take a walk. Longer breaks, such as a weekend getaway, can also help you recharge and come back to your work with fresh energy.
  • Mix it up: Sometimes, changing your routine can help you stay engaged and focused. You can experiment with different writing techniques, such as brainstorming, mind-mapping, or freewriting. Changing your study location can also help, such as working from a café, library, or park. Listening to music or using different background noises can also help you stay focused.
  • Reward yourself: Setting up a reward system can help you stay motivated and give you something to look forward to. You can reward yourself for completing a task, reaching a milestone, or sticking to your study schedule. Rewards can be small, such as a favorite snack or a movie, or larger, such as a weekend trip or a spa day.

In conclusion, high school senior thesis topics can be a great way for students to explore their interests and develop critical thinking skills. 58 Good Research Paper Topics for High School Students

June 27, 2023

We’ve all been there: you’re sitting in English or Social Studies, and suddenly your teacher announces those dreaded words: “I’d like you all to pick a topic for your upcoming research paper.” Your stomach lurches as your mind races to think of good research paper topics. Should you write about octopuses or the New York Yankees? Should you write about the history of Barbie and her uber-pink Dreamhouse , or perhaps the evolution of Taylor Swift ’s music career?

We get it: these are hard choices! That’s why we here at College Transitions have compiled the ultimate list to assist you in selecting an excellent research topic.

But First…the All-Important Question: What Makes a Great Topic?

We’re glad you asked! When selecting a topic for your academic research paper, you want to select a compelling topic that immediately grabs the reader’s attention. Just like when choosing a persuasive speech topic or argumentative essay topic , you want to be sure to select a topic that intrigues you personally. This is pivotal for multiple reasons. If you find your topic intriguing, you’ll likely spend more time delving into the subject and gathering information to strengthen your arguments. Additionally, if a topic sparks your curiosity, odds are that your enthusiasm will pique someone else’s interest, too!

The Key to a Good Research Paper: Research

Regardless of the topic you choose, ensure it’s researchable . This means that the subject has sufficient resources for research. Even the most intriguing topic won’t make for a good paper if there’s not much research material out there. Remember: your typical research paper is longer and more in-depth than a regular academic essay. While this means you have more time to explore the topic at hand, it also means that the research paper will rely on more information and analysis of the existing material out there. Before finalizing your topic, make sure to do a preliminary search to guarantee there’s plenty of information out there to help you construct a comprehensive argument, filled with multiple perspectives and facets.

Following Guidelines

Lastly, and most importantly, follow the guidelines your teacher has laid out. If you focus your paper on pop culture, it certainly won’t meet a historical research paper’s requirement! Before embarking on this thrilling intellectual journey, double-check what type of research paper your teacher wants you to write. To prevent future headaches, clarify any rules or conditions upfront.

113 Great Research Paper Topics

author image

General Education

feature_pencilpaper

One of the hardest parts of writing a research paper can be just finding a good topic to write about. Fortunately we've done the hard work for you and have compiled a list of 113 interesting research paper topics. They've been organized into ten categories and cover a wide range of subjects so you can easily find the best topic for you.

In addition to the list of good research topics, we've included advice on what makes a good research paper topic and how you can use your topic to start writing a great paper.

What Makes a Good Research Paper Topic?

Not all research paper topics are created equal, and you want to make sure you choose a great topic before you start writing. Below are the three most important factors to consider to make sure you choose the best research paper topics.

#1: It's Something You're Interested In

A paper is always easier to write if you're interested in the topic, and you'll be more motivated to do in-depth research and write a paper that really covers the entire subject. Even if a certain research paper topic is getting a lot of buzz right now or other people seem interested in writing about it, don't feel tempted to make it your topic unless you genuinely have some sort of interest in it as well.

#2: There's Enough Information to Write a Paper

Even if you come up with the absolute best research paper topic and you're so excited to write about it, you won't be able to produce a good paper if there isn't enough research about the topic. This can happen for very specific or specialized topics, as well as topics that are too new to have enough research done on them at the moment. Easy research paper topics will always be topics with enough information to write a full-length paper.

Trying to write a research paper on a topic that doesn't have much research on it is incredibly hard, so before you decide on a topic, do a bit of preliminary searching and make sure you'll have all the information you need to write your paper.

#3: It Fits Your Teacher's Guidelines

Don't get so carried away looking at lists of research paper topics that you forget any requirements or restrictions your teacher may have put on research topic ideas. If you're writing a research paper on a health-related topic, deciding to write about the impact of rap on the music scene probably won't be allowed, but there may be some sort of leeway. For example, if you're really interested in current events but your teacher wants you to write a research paper on a history topic, you may be able to choose a topic that fits both categories, like exploring the relationship between the US and North Korea. No matter what, always get your research paper topic approved by your teacher first before you begin writing.

How to Write a Great Research Paper

Even great research paper topics won't give you a great research paper if you don't hone your topic before and during the writing process. Follow these three tips to turn good research paper topics into great papers.

#1: Figure Out Your Thesis Early

Before you start writing a single word of your paper, you first need to know what your thesis will be. Your thesis is a statement that explains what you intend to prove/show in your paper. Every sentence in your research paper will relate back to your thesis, so you don't want to start writing without it!

As some examples, if you're writing a research paper on if students learn better in same-sex classrooms, your thesis might be "Research has shown that elementary-age students in same-sex classrooms score higher on standardized tests and report feeling more comfortable in the classroom."

If you're writing a paper on the causes of the Civil War, your thesis might be "While the dispute between the North and South over slavery is the most well-known cause of the Civil War, other key causes include differences in the economies of the North and South, states' rights, and territorial expansion."

#2: Back Every Statement Up With Research

Remember, this is a research paper you're writing, so you'll need to use lots of research to make your points. Every statement you give must be backed up with research, properly cited the way your teacher requested. You're allowed to include opinions of your own, but they must also be supported by the research you give.

#3: Do Your Research Before You Begin Writing

You don't want to start writing your research paper and then learn that there isn't enough research to back up the points you're making, or, even worse, that the research contradicts the points you're trying to make!

Get most of your research on your good research topics done before you begin writing. Then use the research you've collected to create a rough outline of what your paper will cover and the key points you're going to make. This will help keep your paper clear and organized, and it'll ensure you have enough research to produce a strong paper.

How to Develop a Research Question

Think of developing a research question like embarking on a treasure hunt. Your question is the map that will guide you to the hidden gems of knowledge.

Here’s your compass for crafting a research question that’s not just sharp but exciting:

Start with What Fires You Up

Begin with a topic that genuinely piques your curiosity. Think of it as choosing the theme for your grand adventure.

For example, if you’re into climate change, begin with questions like, “What’s up with climate change’s impact?” or “How does it shake up our ecosystems?”

Dive into the Research Ocean

Before you set your question in stone, go snorkeling in the sea of existing research. Explore journals, books, and online sources that relate to your topic. This is like checking out the maps to see where others have explored.

X Marks the Spot

Keep an eye out for uncharted territory. As you read, you’ll notice gaps in the knowledge or conflicting information. These are the hidden treasures you want to uncover with your research.

Precision is Key

Now, it’s time to put on your archaeologist’s hat. Narrow your question down to a specific focus. Instead of asking, “How does climate change affect ecosystems?” try, “What happens to the daily behavior of local bird species when temperatures rise in a specific forest ecosystem?”

Make Sure It’s Investigable

You’ll need to be Sherlock Holmes here. Ensure your question is something you can investigate – gather evidence, conduct experiments, or analyze data to answer it. If it’s too vague, it’s like hunting a ghost.

Speak Plainly

Your research question shouldn’t sound like it’s written in a secret code. Keep it clear and straightforward, like a friendly guide leading a group of explorers.

Use PICO(T) if You’re a Health Detective

If your research deals with health or clinical sciences, think of yourself as a detective and use the PICO(T) framework to frame your question:

P: Who’s the main character? (The population)

I: What’s the intervention or exposure? (The twist in the story)

C: Is there a comparison to make? (The alternative path)

O: What’s the outcome you’re hunting for? (The treasure)

T: When’s this adventure happening? (The time frame)

Test Your Question

Before you set sail on your research journey, gather your crew (mentors or friends) and test your question. Make sure it’s easy to understand and seems doable. It’s like doing a trial run before the real adventure.

Be Open to Plot Twists

Remember, just like in a thrilling story, your research question might evolve as you dig deeper. Don’t be afraid to adjust it if you stumble upon new clues during your research expedition .

So, crafting your research question is like drawing the map to your very own research treasure. Make it intriguing, precise, and let it lead you to discoveries that will make your scientific journey an epic adventure.

The Research Process

Have a close look a the research process:-

Craft Your Research Question

Think of this as marking your destination on the map. Your research question should be clear and captivating, like the quest that beckons you into the wilderness. It sets the stage for your entire adventure.

Dive into the Existing Knowledge Ocean

Before you embark on your journey, gather your maps and lore. Delve into the existing body of research, like reading ancient scrolls and deciphering hidden codes. This not only helps you understand what others have discovered but also reveals the uncharted territories.

Plan Your Expedition

Just like an intrepid traveler, chart your course. Decide how you’ll collect your precious artifacts (data) – will it be through experiments, surveys, interviews, or analyzing existing records? Create a roadmap (research plan) with milestones to guide you.

Embark on Your Quest

Now, it’s time to set sail on your research ship. Venture into the field, collect your data, or delve into archives like an archaeologist hunting for relics. Take careful notes, as these are the pieces of the puzzle.

Uncover the Hidden Truths

Back at your research camp, it’s time to scrutinize your treasures. Use your magnifying glass (data analysis tools) to unearth patterns, connections, and revelations hidden within your findings.

Decipher the Clues

As you uncover the secrets, don your detective’s hat. What do these findings reveal about your original quest? Are there unexpected twists in the plot?

Claim Your Discovery

With your investigations complete, you reach the heart of the treasure vault. Draw your conclusions. Do they confirm or challenge your initial theories? This is the moment you unveil your findings.

Share Your Tale

Every great explorer returns home with stories of their adventures. In the world of research, this means sharing your discoveries. Write your research paper, like a memoir of your quest, detailing your methods, findings, and conclusions.

Reflect and Refine

Just as explorers grow wiser with each journey, reflect on your research odyssey. What worked splendidly, and where could you enhance your methods? Use these insights to prepare for your next voyage.

Keep the Flame Alive

Remember, your quest for knowledge is an endless adventure. Your discoveries may lead to more questions, uncharted territories, and grander adventures. Embrace the thrill of the unknown, and continue your quest.

Honor the Code

Throughout your journey, uphold the ethical code of the scholar. Respect the rights and dignity of all who share your path. Be scrupulous in citing your sources and maintain the highest standards of integrity.

Seek Companions and Allies

In this grand adventure, don’t hesitate to seek the guidance and camaraderie of fellow explorers. Collaboration can turn a solo quest into an epic expedition.

Here are some things to consider when selecting an appropriate topic:

The Field Of  Your Interest

A Topic Should Be Clear

You need to be sure to understand everything clearly when you choose an essay topic . Do not hesitate to ask questions if there are some unclear points. The more you understand, the simpler it is for you to write a successful research paper. You need to show the readers that you’re a master of the topic and not a confused newbie who does not know what you’re talking about.

Be Precise And Specific

You need to completely understand that you are not writing a descriptive essay. A research paper is an accurate and thorough work, which is based on facts. You cannot waterdown your text. Your statement should be supported with examples or references to other reputable research and academic work.

11 Easy High School Research Paper Topics

Topic Ideas

It does not matter what stage of academic training you are in right now. Surely you will have to make one or several research papers . It may well be an  oral presentation, or a written statement , through essays or through the writing of monographs .

Table of Contents

In any case, everything begins by choosing a topic of interest.

Because sometimes it does not matter how interesting your story is or how well your research is.  If the topic is not correct, you will not be able to generate a connection with the evaluating public.

To make this easier for you we have taken the task of making this post. In it, you will know some of the most relevant social interest issues when preparing content for academic presentation. Regardless of whether the evaluation is oral or written.

All the subjects have been chosen without a real distinction between the degree of formation in which you find yourself; so it is suitable for boys of primary, secondary, or university degree training.

At the moment if you have no idea what is  the best and easy topic for your research , this post will surely serve as guidance and help.

11 Most Easy & Interesting Research Paper Topics For High School Students:

We have chosen the following topics so that you can develop your research easily; Drug addiction, the technological age, young entrepreneurs, smoking, sexually transmitted diseases, eating disorders, the environment, pregnancy in adolescence, causes of death in young people, bullying and finally the methods of promotion for young people to read.

You will find each of these topics explained below.  Why have we chosen these?   Because most of the society is already aware of these current issues and it will not be difficult to connect with them during your presentation. Besides finding information about these topic is easy , because at least once a week the media makes reference to it.

1. Drug Addiction

Trite or not, the issue of drug addiction is one of the most common when we look for one of the most interesting to prepare research material. Something that becomes much more important when it comes to adolescents and young people. The fundamental reason is that it is in this age where the origin of the drug and its habit are found in relation to drugs. It is estimated that more than 50% of new consumers are minors , which already leads us to assume the relevance of the exposure and research of this topic at an early age.

Even people responsible for academic assignments should use drug addiction research as a method of self-evaluation in the speakers .

And while it is about that half of new consumers are under 18 years of age ; the important thing of the case is to know the origins and then take care of mitigating the consequences. In the case of origins, we have to see how the social relationship of these individuals influences their environment: family, friends and acquaintances.

If we look closely at the cases, we will note that experimentation is the main reason behind the beginning of adolescent drinking habit. However, there are other origins such as stress , the pressure of other colleagues and friends; curiosity and even the rebelliousness of this time of life.

But, the part of the origins is only one of the essentials to make research. It can also be done on the consequences, which not only have to do with health, but with academic performance and even with the relationship with your closest friends and family. It is one of the most relevant issues in modern society.

But it is only the first of our list of 11 Topics.

2. Communication in the era of technology

Some call it Communication 2.0 and even Communication 3.0 . The sense is exactly the same: the way we communicate has changed tremendously since the arrival of technology; especially from internet networks. And although the subject seems already known by all, what few we have with certainty is a clear knowledge of its effects. Its true and real effects, which for many of us are still not palpable.

According to surveys, which can be a general average in the countries of the Western Hemisphere, we spend more than 20 hours a week only on social networks ( Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, …), in an hourly amount that will continue to grow with each passing year. On average, we also have a direct link with more than 300 people through social channels. This without taking into account the instant messaging networks of our smart phones ( Telegram, WhatsApp, Skype, Facebook Messenger ).

That is, we are connected in a constant and irreversible way with technology. What has definitely marked the way we communicate with others. But, the problem is that of all the people we have added as friends, we only see physically less than 12%, and in a short time.

We see some of them because we coincide coincidentally, or because work or study obliges us to do so. But it is not a planned or consensual fact, which is a factor to be taken into account about how we have changed the way we communicate.

We must bear in mind that the human being is, above all, a being that needs to maintain contact. And to think that only 11% of that contact is being physical, and the rest of the time is being devoted to a digital contact – at a distance – is already a phenomenon that requires evaluation.

In addition, it is a subject extensive enough to pose in research or monograph.

The best thing of all is that it can be distinguished for any stage of the formation, and even for any career of formation of degree, since it is a phenomenon that attacks us by all possible ways; technology is already in all the important areas of our life.

3. Entrepreneurship and Young Entrepreneurs

We are not taught entrepreneurship in school and universities and it is a task that requires a lot of intrinsic motivation, and above all, many pushes .

However, if we look around, especially in the high corporate spheres, we will notice that most of the world leaders and owners – founders of companies started as entrepreneurs from very early ages.

Richard Branson , Steve Jobs or Bill Gates would be some of the most notorious cases.

Therefore, any issue of entrepreneurship related to the generation of productive ideas from the earliest ages is a topic that must be emphasized more and more every day. The importance of this not only has to do with the way in which working life is changing, with less and less demand for workers and greater demand for capable leaders; but also in a behavior of favoritism of the social entrepreneur before the preference of the punctual worker.

Entrepreneurship, therefore, has become one of the most demanded tasks by the current work ecosystem. However, it is a work that is not yet taught and about which we do not all have a theoretical foundation.

The exposition of this topic could be distinguished by the biographical review of a character who has stood out exactly for entrepreneurship since young.

4. Smoking and alcoholism

The data in this respect is not encouraging: more than half of the world population habitually consumes one of both -or alcohol, or tobacco-. In addition, it is statistically presumed that the majority of tobacco and alcohol addicts begin before reaching adulthood, so the topic is ideal for an oral or written presentation in educational areas of young people and adolescents in general.

We highlight here the social event, because in addition to the risks inherent in the health of both addictions (lung cancer, trachea or anxiety in the case of smoking; and liver cancer or cirrhosis in the case of alcoholism), many are the social risks of Both addictions, such as the risk of road accidents, change of behavior or problems with the family in the case of alcohol addiction; and the risk of disorders, phobias and even the jump to dangerous drugs in the case of tobacco.

We are, therefore, in the face of two issues that are not only important because of the age when their first causes begin to manifest themselves, but because of how difficult they have been-and are-to cope and mitigate in terms of what they are intended to do.

5. Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Needless to say, it is one of the inevitable topics on the list of interesting topics to expose. Especially when the public is between 13 and 25 years old. Young people are, by far, the population nucleus with the highest risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases, also called venereal diseases .

This has many explanations, but some of those that have greater incidence are: promiscuity, since the majority of young people experience having more than one sexual partner; the experimentation and even the concealment of their sexual life facing parents and doctors. Finally, there is a biological foundation, since young people -especially women- have an index of 50% more risk of contracting diseases of this type.

In North America alone there are more than 20 million new cases of STDs each year. A figure that increases when we consider the entire Western Hemisphere.

The topics of research related to sexually transmitted diseases can be discussed with the causes, with the consequences, with the prevention, and also with the life with venereal diseases, because there is possibly not a definitive cure.

6. Eating disorders

Disorders in eating habits have been treated in a wrong way for a long time. In the worst case, they have not even been taken into account.

However, today one in three teenagers has a disorder associated with eating. Commonly we associate these disorders with two well-known ones: anorexia and bulimia.

Both are not strictly food problems , but have to do directly with psychological problems, self-assessment, self-esteem and depression; and it is precisely this behavioral mixture that affects teenage girls to become obsessed with food.

In the case of bulimia, people who suffer from it tend to eat compulsively and in exaggerated quantities; but a few hours later they become obsessed with the idea that they have eaten too much, and they are busily seeking to eliminate food through vomiting-which can be induced-and the use of powerful laxatives.

In the case of anorexia, it is a condition of self-perception where adolescents believe they are overweight. Anorexia, from the clinical point of view, is summarized as a pathology in which patients have a weight 15% less than ideal weight, at least.

Some people with anorexia may have a skeletal body , because they are afraid of gaining weight .

The treatment of eating disorders is not simple, but it exists and can have a high effectiveness. And although it is not a disease destined exclusively for females, they are the most disadvantaged by such bad habits.

The treatment, properly speaking, has to do with clinical monitoring, apart from the acquisition of new eating habits that are supported – or shared – by all their relatives and close friends. Finally, it is a job in which you have to rely on the help of psychology professionals, since the mind is the root of the whole problem.

7. Environmental and ecology theme

Previously we mentioned the topic of ecology from the point of view of entrepreneurship. However, it is an extensive and systematically important issue to be addressed on its own. And that is exactly what we propose .

The environmental issue is usually linked to that of political management, but it does not have to be exclusively like that. To carry out an oral or written presentation, the subject can be carried around an informative, journalistic, scientific concept; focusing in addition on the prevention from the citizen culture, totally removed from the controversial language and of confrontation to which the same subject would invite you. The environmental and ecology issue has a lot to talk about, beyond the known global warming , its reasons, causes and the things that can be done to prevent its effects in the short and medium term.

Although, if you like, you can talk about the technological and governmental advances in this regard, and how these could be enhanced according to the adoption of simple changes in habits. Issues such as deforestation of forests, overpopulation, fishing and excessive or illegal hunting ; Endangered species and poor water management can be some of the most interesting topics.

8. Pregnancy in adolescent age

Another issue that has an important social impact. As the relevant data from the case show, more than 75% of adolescent pregnancies have not been intentional. That is, it has not been sought to become pregnant as the ultimate goal. It was, lets say, accidental.

Early pregnancy is a social problem that today involves many young people, but also directly involves family members, religious and recreational associations, as well as providers of specialized medical services.

The issues surrounding teen pregnancy should go, first of all, on the proportion of information to this sector of the population. In the vast majority of cases, adolescents who have become pregnant have done so because they do not have clear information, or because they have been victims of other problems we have already mentioned, such as drugs or alcohol.

In addition to the above, the theme also serves to address proposals of a social or medical nature that can work to prevent and eradicate the phenomenon, which in turn can lead to a more serious and ethically more delicate, such as abortion.

9. Deaths in adolescents, and their causes

We have left it for the last places, but it is not less important than the previous ones. However, we could say that it is one of the most controversial and spicy in the list. Hence your position in this post. Deaths in adolescents should be an exception to the rule, since life is biologically and socially beginning to be forged. But, reality is far from this previous statement.

The most common causes are suicide, homicide, traffic accidents, cancer and heart-related diseases.

Among all these most common causes, the fact that car accidents occupy more than one third of all causes – common or not – of deaths in adolescents stands out. Something that already makes us see the relationship of this fatal consequence with some of the problems that affect this part of society. In addition to this, another cause that surprises is that of suicide, which has increased over the past 20 years to skip creeping encrypt . And is that according to the CDC, suicide is the third most common cause of death in people under 24 years, only behind accidents (of any kind) and homicides.

Interestingly, suicide occurs 61% with firearms, so the possession of weapons at home could be a major constraint for young people to commit these unfortunate acts. After all, a family that owns many weapons in its home is, precisely, a family that has chosen not to take the negotiation and the dialogue like a valid method to solve the problems.

Because of the complexity of the topic, it is a topic suitable for young people who are in the university. Not so much for those who are in cycles of secondary education.

10. The bullying or the school harassment

Although it is a silent problem, since victims almost never declare it, bullying is one of the scourges that most affects young people. This phenomenon of aggression can be physical or emotional, based on beatings, shouting, breaking the belongings of the person being harassed, as well as mocking or denigrating the victim.

Bullying has been accepted as a matter of supremacy within a core of young people, predominating the school environment.

However, we must be clear-and adolescents alike-that this bullying behavior cannot, in any way, be accepted. In fact, legally and morally, no one has the right to be abused; And no person has the right to abuse others, regardless of any social variable.

11. Promotion of reading in adolescents

The importance of reading is unquestionable. However, acquiring this habit is a process that requires many sacrifices. It is scientifically proven that adolescents who begin to read will manage to maintain this habit throughout their lives.

Therefore, an exhibition that has the central concept of encouraging the habit of reading in the youngest is not only a good topic, but a long-term investment. There are many books that are suitable for young people, since not only do they allow them to acquire the habit, but they find in literature a healthy and enriching distraction.

Some of these books are among the recommended ones:

Trilogy of The Hunger Games , by Suzanne Collins. Complete saga of Harry Potter , by JK Rowling. Under the same star , by John Green.

Although these books may be appropriate, it is possible that a common teenager is interested in other types of books, preferring to acquire the habit by reading manuals, practical guides, biographies of famous characters, history books, among other topics.

The point of the matter is to encourage reading as planting a tree. From there, each tree will throw the branches according to what its heart dictates.

And what topic did you like the most? Do you already have a clear idea of how you want to develop your research?

Research is the foundation of knowledge and innovation. In the Philippine basic education landscape, “research-infused” curriculum was implemented in the senior high school to inculcate research culture among learners. Thus, this convergent parallel mixed-method study explored the attitudes of Grade 12 senior high school students towards research and its relationship to their academic performance. Papanastasiou’s (2014) Revised Attitude towards Research (R-ATR) scale was administered to 100 randomly-selected Grade 12 senior high school students to gather quantitative data. Open-ended questionnaire was utilized to gather qualitative data from ten (10) senior high school students. Data were analysed using Descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation coefficient. Excerpts from the qualitative data were provided to support the statistical analysis of data. Results revealed that the students have a generally positive attitude towards research albeit the high level of anxiety that they experience. RATR scale attitude domains showed low to high degree of relationship with each other. Conversely, students’ attitudes towards research did not show significant relationship with students’ academic performance in Practical Research 2. The results yielded by this research may be used as a basis for a more efficient delivery of research-related courses in the senior high school.
