Candidates having degrees with specialization in various sub-disciplines of CSE/EE/IT/ECE such as MTech/ME in Artificial Intelligence, Information Security, Data Sciences, Signal Processing & Digital Design, Communication Systems etc., can also apply. They will be considered as having MTech/ME in CSE/EE/IT/ECE and the eligibility criteria will be applied accordingly.
The department reserves the right to set a suitable cutoff criteria for shortlisting the candidates for interview. The department also reserves the right to NOT select any candidate.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
The admission process typically consists of a written test followed by an interview.
All candidates who have applied and have paid the fee are eligible to appear in the written-test. Of them, the candidates who meet the eligibility criterion and are shortlisted based on the score in the written-test appear for the interview. The department reserves the right to set a procedure for shortlisting based on the written-test score.
The majority of the written test questions (60%) will cover data structures, algorithms and discrete mathematics. However, the remaining questions will be based on the GATE CS syllabus.
The list of candidates who are finally selected after interview will be announced on the CSE website approximately within two weeks of the interview date. Selected candidates will also be intimated by email.
WAIVER FOR THE WRITTEN TEST
B.Tech. from the IITs who have graduated with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering/Information Technology within the last five years and with a CPI/CGPA of 8/10 and above.
Masters from the IITs/IISc who have graduated with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering/ Information Technology within the last five years and with a CPI/CGPA of 8.5/10 and above.
Bachelors/Masters who have passed the GATE exam in the discipline of Computer Science within the last five years and with a GATE score of 800/1000 and above.
Candidates who are eligible for the waiver from the written test should send an email to [email protected] , requesting for a waiver for the written-test. Their emails must contain proof of one of the criteria mentioned above. These candidates must still appear for the written-test. Their request for waiver will be reviewed after the written-test and if they are found eligible, they will be shortlisted for interview regardless of their score in the written-test.

TA REIMBURSEMENT DETAILS
Candidates who appear for the interview (either after having cleared the written test or being eligible for waiver of the written test) for the full-time Ph.D. program are eligible for reimbursement of single second class (reserved sleeper) train fare by the shortest route from their city/town of residence to IIT Hyderabad and back for attending the interview on submission of the claim in the prescribed format with all relevant particulars (Train No., Coach No, Ticket No., Fare Paid, Date of Journey, Station from and to, etc). Only one claim is admissible though you may attend more than one interview at this institute in the same trip.
Candidates traveling by airplane should preserve their boarding pass issued at the airport (boarding-pass from web check-in is not acceptable). Then, the reimbursed travel-expense will be minimum of (1) airfare and (2) train-fare between same cities. Reimbursement will be done as per the norms of the institute.

For all candidates, the eligibility criteria such as Qualifying Degree, Minimum CPI or Percentage of Marks and all other requirements are followed as mentioned in the admission advertisement/notification. Specifically, the criteria is (i) 6.0GPA/60% in M.Tech/M.E for a candidate with ME/MTech as qualifying degree in CS/CSE/IT/M&C, (ii) 7.0GPA/70% in BE/BTech for candidates with BE/B.Tech as qualifying degree in CS/CSE/IT/M&C and (iii) BSc in CS/IT/M&C/Maths/Data Science as major followed by MSc in CS/IT/M&C/Maths/Data Science with 6.0GPA/60% in M.Sc.
In addition, the following criteria have been followed for shortlisting:
For Regular and Fulltime Category Candidates: Either (a) Gate Score cutoffs are 480, 432 and 320 for Non-EWS/EWS, OBC-NCL and ST/SC/PWD candidates, respectively or (b) Candidates with NET-JRF in CS.
For all categories other than Regular and Full time: M.Tech/MS/ME CGPA/Percentage equal or higher than 7.0/70%, 7.0/70%, 6.5/65% for Non-EWS/EWS, OBC, and ST/SC/PWD candidates, respectively and preceding degree BE/BTech/MCA with CGPA/Percentage equal or higher than 6.5/65%, 6.5/65% and 6.0/60% for Non-EWS/EWS, OBC, and ST/SC/PWD candidates, respectively.

In the written test, candidates are expected to solve questions from the basic subjects of CSE taken from GATE syllabus. In the time of Interview, candidates need to mention three basic subjects from which questions will be asked.

Every candidate will be allotted to a session (morning or afternoon). The candidate needs to be available online in Skype for the entire allotted session.

Eligibility of candidates as per minimum eligibility norms for the M. Tech. CSE program is as follows: (i) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent in CS/IT/M&C or MSc (Computer Science/Information Technology) or MCA. MIT Doctoral Programs in Computational Science and Engineering
The Center for Computational Science and Engineering (CCSE) offers two doctoral programs in computational science and engineering (CSE) – one leading to a standalone PhD degree in CSE offered entirely by CCSE (CSE PhD) and the other leading to an interdisciplinary PhD degree offered jointly with participating departments in the School of Engineering and the School of Science (Dept-CSE PhD).

The standalone CSE PhD program is intended for students who intend to pursue research in cross-cutting methodological aspects of computational science. The resulting doctoral degree in Computational Science and Engineering is awarded by CCSE via the the Schwarzman College of Computing. In contrast, the interdisciplinary CSE PhD program is intended for students who are interested in computation in the context of a specific engineering or science discipline. For this reason, this degree is offered jointly with participating departments across the Institute; the interdisciplinary degree is awarded in a specially crafted thesis field that recognizes the student’s specialization in computation within the chosen engineering or science discipline.

The Computer Science Department PhD program is a top-ranked research-oriented program, typically completed in 5-6 years. There are very few course requirements and the emphasis is on preparation for a career in Computer Science research.
Eligibility
To be eligible for admission in a Stanford graduate program, applicants must meet:
Applicants from institutions outside of the United States must hold the equivalent of a United States Bachelor's degree from a college or University of recognized good standing. See detailed information by region on Stanford Graduate Admissions website.
Area of undergraduate study . While we do not require a specific undergraduate coursework, it is important that applicants have strong quantitative and analytical skills; a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science is not required.

Minimum marks to be obtained in the interview for admission in the Ph. D. program UR category: 55% SC/ST/OBC/EWS category candidates: 50%
Candidates may submit a research proposal (optional) to express their area of interest (if any).
Interview in Elementary Mathematics and the following core Computer Science areas: Group I: Programming, Data Structures, and Algorithms. Group II: Computer System Architecture, Operating Systems, and Computer Networks.
Research Proposal (if any)
Candidates with SCI/SCIE publication(s) as first or corresponding author shall be exempt from Round-I.
The Round-II interview will be of 100 marks. The weightage will be 90% for interview in subjects from Group I and 10% for research proposal (if any), else weightage will be 100% for interview in subjects from Group I.
Interaction with supervisors, for the sake of assigning supervisors before the final shortlisting, will be the third step in the admission process. This step may span about a week to give sufficient time to the candidates and the supervisors to make the selection.

PhD in computer science topics of study includes Research Methodology, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Rough Set Theory, etc. Individuals are required to take entrance exams to get admission into top colleges in India. In some colleges, admissions to Full-time PhD in computer science are also done based on a merit-list selection process, i.e., the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate at M.Phil or equivalent level.
PhD in Computer Science Course Part-time
PhD computer science is also offered as a part-time course by many institutes to students. This is very beneficial for those who want to pursue some work and want to get a degree. Indira Gandhi National Open University [IGNOU] is a popular university offering Ph.D. computer science as a part-time course. While pursuing a Ph.D. in computer science in distance learning mode, the course duration can go up to 5 years. Private universities like Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar also offer Ph.D. computer science in part-time mode.
Most Universities/Colleges offer admission based on the score of CET (like UGC NET) or conduct their entrance test like entrance exams held for JNU admission into Ph.D. courses hence students would have to make an application for such exams.
Students have to qualify for these exams (for which they should be eligible to appear) to get admission to the course.
After the conduct of the test, a merit list of finally qualified candidates is prepared and candidates are invited for the admission process by the respective university or college.
After preparation of the final merit list, the process of final allotment of seats to the candidate takes place and the candidate is asked to deposit the fee for Ph.D. in Computer Science course and register for the respective academic year.
PhD in Computer Science Eligibility
Candidates must have passed their M.Phil or equivalent level examination from a recognized state/private/deemed or central university with at least 55% marks (45% to 50% for reserved category candidates) in the respective domain of study.
Students shall not be having any backlog or compartment in any of the subjects at M.Phil or equivalent level that is yet to be cleared at the time of taking admission.
In the case of reserved category students, they would have to present their reservation certificates issued by the competent authorities to avail the benefits applicable to them.

Life is pretty good here. We conduct 4-5 events yearly for students interaction with both the seniors and the alumni. And these events vary, like technical events- Annual festival and hackathons to non tenchnical events like- skits, diwali party, fresher's, farewell, holi party, DJ nights. Recently we went on a trek also. Overall, life is happening here and the environment is good for overall personality development of an individual.
I think the syllabus is updated and up to the mark, professors are quite good and experts in their respective fields. In terms of practical knowledge and infrastructure- like machines, servers- I think we should do better, being computer science department. Prof. Neelima gupta is the chair person right now, I ma working under her. I think she is doing wonderful job and we will see department doing better in coming 1 or 2 year.
Amazing college
The college was beautifully constructed and had students coming from different backgrounds and cultures. They all were friendly to each other and had a good environment at the college. Activities like sports, music, dance, theatre were conducted by various student firms and we all could participate.
The jobs are available at the campus where well-known organisations and companies also came to interview. We could also apply to the college?s campus as a teacher, Dell, Intel came to interview. Almost all of the students got placed with an average package of Rs.15 lakhs Per annum.
My experiences in NITTTR
The course curriculum is pretty chilled out. The class is more student focused and works towards creating an environment that students use for knowledge rather than just knowing a lot of things. The curriculum also prepares students for anything in the industry.
Students are required to participate in various activities and workshops. On top of that students are allowed to work part-time as consultants to outside companies. There are many sports activities the students can participate in if they are interested.

The faculty of my course and others were brilliantly intelligent and considerate. They would know when to rush to complete the portion and when to keep us stress-free. They never put burden on us. They would always say that a clear mind could do better than a stressed one.
Job placements were pretty easy after this course was completed in any industry or educational institution for almost all of us, because we already had atleast one year experience of teaching/working in industry. This was a beneficial add-on training.

One thing I can say is that, especially in an IIT, every individual Faculty or Student wants to stand out, be that special one. It is only in the hands of each one as to how far you make the effort to work everything out.
Getting into PhD in IIT Indore requires a written exam (after your name is on the eligible list), followed by 1-3 face-to-face interviews (depending on your luck I guess) on the same day most of the time. When they are satisfied by your credentials and previous work done, they let you know in a couple of weeks if you are selected. The same is listed on the college website, so you know if you have been rejected.

Candidates with a minimum of 55% marks in Master's Degree in Engineering/Technology or M.Tech. by Research or any other equivalent Degree in relevant area from a university/ institution recognized by Anurag University. Master's Degree or its equivalent in the relevant area with a minimum of 55% marks from a university / institution recognized by Anurag University. M. Pharmacy or its equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks, awarded by a university/ institution recognized by Anurag University In the case of MCA graduates or M.Sc. in Computer science, the M.Tech in CSE/IT/any other stream of CSE, qualification is mandatory for registering for Ph.D.
Based on the merit rank in the Entrance Examination and followed by the Interview. The candidates who have been qualified either through a national level test conducted by national-level organizations such as UGC / CSIR / ICAR / ICMR/ DBT/ UGC-NET/ APRCET /TSET/CSIR-NET/ SET-TS/AP /JEST /GATE/ GPAT/ DST-INSPIRE fellowship or Teacher Fellowship applicants or working as Scientists in Government Organizations & Research Labs with five years experience are exempted from Ph.D. Eligibility Test of Anurag University. However the candidate has to appear for the interview.
